‘I Killed Her for Wealth’: Man Confesses to Ritual Murder of 20-Year-Old

A 20-year-old woman who travelled to Tivaouane, Senegal, for the Gamou religious celebrations was allegedly lured to her death after a traditional spiritual practitioner was instructed to find a young virgin for a ritual believed to bring wealth, according to local media.

A 20-year-old Senegalese woman, Ndèye Bigué Sène, was allegedly killed in Tivaouane in a suspected ritual murder. Police arrested a traditional spiritual practitioner identified as B. Ndiaye, who reportedly confessed to the killing and claimed he acted on the instructions of another practitioner known as “Coulibaly.”

The victim, identified as Ndèye Bigué Sène, was reportedly found dead in a bush on Saturday, August 22, 2026, with multiple injuries.

A traditional spiritual practitioner identified as B. Ndiaye has since been arrested and reportedly confessed to her murder, according to local media.

Ndiaye, who was arrested by officers from the Tivaouane urban police station under the command of Chief Superintendent Cheikh Ndiaye, allegedly told investigators that another practitioner known only as “Coulibaly” instructed him to find a young virgin for a ritual.

According to the reported confession, Ndiaye was allegedly told to give the victim an unknown substance, stab her, collect her blood and then strangle her.

Police investigations reportedly linked him to the death after inquiries within the neighbourhood and an analysis of mobile phone records.

How the alleged ritual murder happened

Ndèye Bigué had reportedly travelled to Tivaouane for the Gamou celebrations when she was allegedly contacted by the suspect.

The young woman was known to Ndiaye, a former fisherman who had previously provided prayers for her while she prepared for her 2026 baccalaureate examinations.

Although she did not obtain her diploma during the examinations, the two reportedly remained in contact.

Initial investigations suggest that Ndiaye later called the high school senior and arranged a meeting.

She reportedly left her home in Tivaouane at about 8 p.m. on Friday, August 21.

The following day, around 2 p.m., police were informed that her lifeless body had been discovered in a bush.

According to local reports, the victim had been stabbed four times with a “naw-naw,” described as a formidable type of knife.

Suspect reportedly confesses

Investigators reportedly gathered evidence that pointed to B. Ndiaye.

He was subsequently confronted by the head of the Tivaouane judicial police and his team.

According to local media reports, the suspect then confessed to the killing.

However, Ndiaye reportedly denied raping the victim.

An autopsy is expected to determine whether Ndèye Bigué was sexually assaulted before her death.

The suspect has been taken into custody as investigations continue.

Authorities are also expected to establish the full circumstances surrounding the alleged ritual killing and determine whether anyone else was involved.

The allegations remain subject to the outcome of the ongoing investigation and judicial process.
