BLACK SATURDAY: Two Siblings die, as fence collapses into building

The lifeless bodies of two children suspected to be siblings have been recovered as a fence collapsed into building in Lagos State.

The bodies of two siblings who got trapped under rubble in Ishawo, Ikorodu area of Lagos State, following collapse of a fence on their room amid heavy Saturday’s downpour, have been recovered.

The tragic incident occurred on Saturday, at No 25, Ajao street CWC, by Olainukan Bus Stop, Ishawo, Ikorodu, Lagos State.

Mr. Ibrahim Farinloye, the acting coordinator. National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) territorial office, confirmed the incident to newsmen on Saturday in Lagos.

It was gathered that the children, identified as Rakib Atolagbe (9 years) and Mujib Atolagbe (7 years), were trapped in the rubble.

Confirming the devastating incident, Farinloye said:
“The children Rakib Atolagbe, 9 years and Mujib Atolagbe 7 years were trapped when fence from the neighbouring house fell on their building during the day’s heavy downpour.

“It was very unfortunate that distressed calls were not properly channeled to those whose responsibility was to save the lives of their children at the right time.

“The Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA) are presently on ground to assess the situation. May almighty forgive the deceased and console the parents.”
