Anambra Man Shoots Brother Dead Over N1,500 Electricity Bill

There is a rising tension in the commercial city of Nnewi in Anambra state of, as a man reportedly killed his brother shortly after an altercation ensued between them over an unpaid electricity bill.

The sad incident occurred at Uruagu, in Nnewi North local Government Area of Anambra state.

Reports have it that the short tempered man shot dead his brother, thus leaving his entire family and the Nnewi country men in utter melancholy.

Famousreporters.com leant that an argument had earlier, ensued between the duo, over the refusal of one of the brother’s identified as Peter, to make payment of N1,500 electrical bill, on Tuesday, August 30, 2022.

A source told newsmen that in a bid to compel Peter to pay the money, it the power supply connecting Peter’s flat in the building was altered.

However, infuriated by the sudden disconnection of his electricity, Peter, as gathered, stormed into his brother’s flat, brought out a gun and allegedly shot the latter to death.

It was gathered that the murderer upon seeing the lifeless body of his brother on the floor, without hesitation, surrendered himself to the nearby police authorities, in his bid to avert the fury who would have unhesitatingly lynched him before the anticipated arrival of the police.

Confirming the incident, the state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, said the state Commissioner of Police, Echeng Echeng, had ordered that the case be transferred to the Criminal Investigation Department for discreet investigation.

Police authorities further said the case had been transferred to its criminal investigative department.
