2027 Battle Heats Up: Abia APC Vows 80% Votes for Tinubu, Tells Otti to “Fix His Political Future
“The Abia APC has rejected claims that Governor Alex Otti will support President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election, insisting it will deliver over 80% of votes while urging Otti to focus on his own political future.”
“Nigeria’s 2027 political landscape is already taking shape as the Abia State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) fires a strong warning shot—declaring its readiness to deliver a landslide victory for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu while dismissing claims of support from Governor Alex Otti as “deceptive and self-serving.”
The Abia State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed claims that Governor Alex Otti is working toward the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027, describing the narrative as misleading and politically motivated.
In a statement issued by its Publicity Secretary, Uche Aguoru, the party said it was aware of reports credited to a member of the Labour Party suggesting that Governor Otti may support President Tinubu’s second-term bid.
While acknowledging that such a claim could ordinarily be welcomed, the APC expressed strong reservations, citing what it described as “a pattern of deception and political inconsistency” associated with the governor.
“We refuse to be misled by what is clearly a calculated and self-serving narrative,” the statement said.
The party noted that Governor Otti and his political allies had openly rejected the outcome of the 2023 presidential election and allegedly failed to accord due recognition to President Tinubu, including the non-display of his official portraits in some government offices.
It further alleged that individuals linked to the governor have continued to criticise the President and his policies on social media, claiming that such actions were “coordinated and, in some cases, sponsored.”
According to the APC, Governor Otti’s recent posture suggests a lack of transparency. The party accused him of using intermediaries to project support for the President rather than making a clear and public declaration.
Drawing a comparison, the statement referenced Charles Soludo as an example of a governor who has openly expressed support for President Tinubu.
The APC also criticised Governor Otti for allegedly failing to acknowledge federal government projects executed in Abia State under the current administration.
Describing the reported support as a political survival strategy, the party claimed that the governor’s re-election prospects were uncertain, insisting that the APC has continued to gain momentum across the state.
“We therefore advise President Tinubu to disregard such misleading overtures,” the statement added.
The party maintained that it possessed the structure, grassroots network, and political strength to secure “no less than 80–90 percent” of Abia votes for President Tinubu in the 2027 election.
It further advised Governor Otti to focus on consolidating his own political future rather than making what it described as “hollow promises.”
“Such claims are akin to a drowning man offering help to one standing safely on solid ground,” the statement said.
Highlighting its grassroots strength, the APC pointed to support groups including Renewed Hope Partners, Renewed Hope Ambassadors, City Boys Movement, and Relax Tinubu Is Fixing Nigeria, noting that these platforms have continued to promote the administration’s agenda across communities.
The statement concluded with a direct admonition to the governor, urging him to “first secure his own political future,” adding that “one who lacks direction cannot lead others.”
