The movie explores Africa’s historical journey through slavery, colonial domination, resilience, and cultural identity, with production beginning at La Campagne Tropicana Forest, River and Beach Resort in Lagos State.”

La Campagne Tropicana Forest, River and Beach Resort in Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos State, has been transformed into a major cinematic hub as principal photography begins for the highly anticipated historical epic film, “So Long – Odigbose.”

The landmark movie project, conceived by renowned tourism entrepreneur and cultural advocate, Otunba Dr. Chief Olawanle Akinboboye, represents the realisation of a vision that has been nurtured for more than two decades.

The commencement of production has attracted a distinguished gathering of filmmakers, actors, producers, technical experts, and cultural enthusiasts who have united to bring an authentic African historical narrative to the global screen.

Inspired by a story created by Otunba Akinboboye and written by acclaimed screenwriter Tunde Babalola, “So Long – Odigbose” chronicles a significant chapter of African history, exploring the experiences of Africans during the era of slavery and colonial expansion.

Production officially began on June 15, 2026, with advanced filmmaking equipment, elaborate costume designs, historical set recreations, and modern cinematic technology deployed to deliver a world-class production.

Expressing his views on the significance of the project, Otunba Olawanle Akinboboye, the creator and director of “So Long – Odigbose,” explained that the lengthy development process was necessary to achieve historical accuracy, creative depth, and global cinematic standards.

“For years, many people have asked why this project took so long to reach the screen. The answer lies in the extensive research, creativity, and commitment required to faithfully recreate a world that existed more than four hundred years ago,” he said.

According to Akinboboye, the film provides a unique perspective on Africa’s relationship with colonial powers while presenting a compelling narrative built around history, identity, resilience, and cultural preservation.

He added that the production team is focused on quality and authenticity rather than speed, with the film expected to be completed within six months to one year before its official release.

“Our objective is to create a timeless cinematic masterpiece capable of resonating with audiences across the globe. We are committed to achieving the highest standards of storytelling, production, and historical representation,” Akinboboye stated.

Meanwhile, the production environment at La Campagne Tropicana reflected a blend of creativity, cultural immersion, and hospitality, as cast and crew members prepared for the demanding filming schedule.

The Production Secretariat has been established at Obieze 4, one of the resort’s luxury chalets, while filming activities are being carried out across the beachfront and surrounding natural landscapes.
