OTTI’S PANEL OF INQUIRY: CAYGG Harps Support Efforts To Recover Abia Looted Funds, Property

By Amanda Ezekiel, Enugu

Concerned Abia Youths For Good Governance, (CAYGG), a pro-democracy group has unanimously applauded the Governor of Abia State, Dr Alex Otti for constituting and inaugurating a five-man Judicial Panel of Inquiry to probe the activities of the immediate past PDP led administration of Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu.

This is even as the decision of the government of Otti to leave no stone unturned in her bid to recover, through the Panel, various property and funds perceived to have been confiscated by individuals who were in the corridors of power, under the immediate past People’s Democratic Party (PDP ‘s) administration.

It is no longer news that Otti, had,  last week’s Tuesday, inaugurated a five-man judicial panel of Iniqury under the chairmanship of Honourable Justice Ikwuoma Duruoha-Igwe(Rtd), in his steadfast efforts to recover all looted government’s property, as well as public’s funds.

The event which was held at the banquet hall of the State Government House, Umuahia, the State’s capital, had in attendance, the Deputy Governor, Engr. Ikechukwu Emetu, the Secretary to the State Government(SSG), Professor Kenneth Kalu, among other notable government functionaries.

Reacting to the development, the group which comprises Abians from across parties in the State, while reacting to the decision of the Governor, described same as laudable and worthy of emulation.

A release made available to the Media, through its publicity secretary, Comrd. Henry Ikenna, states that the Governor, through the act, had proven himself “a worthy son of Abia and true Messiah”, pointing out that “Abia must be healed again”.

Furthermore, the release urged Otti to disregard “haters” and focus on his rescue mission project, saying that “Abia had over the years, been sold out to political profiteers but glory be to God for sending His Messiah to rehabilitate both the State and her inhabitants.

“Our State has been ruled and governed by some individuals whose  consciences are dead a long time ago but we cannot question God because His time, according to the scripture is the best.”

The aggrieved youths who described Umuahia as a glorified village, hence unbefitting of a State’s capital, regretted that the state had over the years, suffered intense backwardness inspite of various allocations, but assured that all would be brought to book.

CAYGG, used the medium to thank the five man committee, as he urged Justice Ikwuoma Duruoha-Igwe(Rtd), to  circumspectively execute the task assigned to him, not giving thoughts or concern to ‘whose ox is gored’.

Also, the group implored Duruoha-Igwe to ensure he does not betray the confidence the Governor has reposed in him and other members of the committee.

“Our wealth has been confiscated by a few selected individuals who feel they own the State. However, God has remembered Abia finally and the Governor has vowed to stop at nothing in his quest to restore our wealth back to our dear state.

“Otti is the Messiah we have been waiting for and he has come to rebuild and restructure the State and it does not matter who gets hurt. So, we want to assure Abians that just like Dr. Alex Otti had said during his campaigns, the Egyptians we saw yesterday, we shall see them no more. This is a new dawn in Abia.”
