The Non-Academic Staff Union (NASU), Abia State Chapter, has expressed its readiness to strengthen collaboration with the management of the Federal College of Education (FCE) Ofeme, Ohuhu, following a courtesy visit to the institution’s Provost.
Speaking during the visit, the NASU Chairman, Abia Chapter, Dr. Wisdom Ibebuike, described the engagement as “an important interface between the Union, the College’s leadership, and its workforce.”
He explained that the primary purpose of the visit was to seek the Provost’s consent and support as the Union deepens its activities within the institution. According to him, NASU is committed to “ensuring consistent communication and involving the Provost in all relevant matters for smooth administrative synergy.”

Dr. Ibebuike appreciated the Provost for the warm reception and commended his ongoing contributions to the growth of the College, adding, “We pray for a mutual and symbiotic relationship that will be beneficial to both staff members and the Union.”
In his response, the Provost, Dr. Titus Sunday Ezeme, welcomed the NASU delegation and acknowledged his background as “a committed unionist,” noting that unionism played a significant role in his professional development.
Dr. Ezeme requested a copy of the Union’s constitution and its operational guidelines to ensure effective integration of NASU activities within the College, stating, “This will help us maintain proper alignment and functionality across all departments.”
The visit, which was attended by senior NASU officials and college representatives, marked a major step toward strengthening staff welfare, institutional harmony, and workplace development. It also set the stage for a more structured union presence within FCE Ofeme.
