It was a moment of joy and indeed a Red-Letter-Day, yesterday, Friday, at Obohia Ibere, in Ikwuano Local Government Area of Abia State, aseas the Community endorsed the candidature of Labour Party, (LP) for Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency, High Chief Obi Aguocha, in the forthcoming general election, slated for February 25.

Speaking on behalf of the community of Obohia, Pastor Pastor Emeka Ogbonna of Christ All For Nations, assured that the people of Obohia would not only throw their weights behind the LP candidate but would against all odds, endeavour to protect their votes to ensure his emergence as the Federal Legislator.

Pastor Ogbonna who thanked the people for their prompt response even at the shortest notice, also expressed gratitude to Aguocha for remembering them “and making out time to visit us.

Speaking, the community’s spokesperson said: “We’re not voting party or just equity but our interest is basically in who will go, and represent us effectively, he said, while also urging the Ogwumabiri Umuahia not to sideline them but rather strive to make them enjoy all dividends of democracy, during his stay in office.

“We want to assure you today that we, the people of Obohia are solidly behind you and all other candidates
of LP. This is because we know that Labour Party is the party to relieve us of this mess we’ve been into over the years. Our aim of supporting you is so that you will be able to save us from our impoverished condition. We have six polling units and the highest votes in Obohia and we assure you of our bulk vote come February 25. But, please, do not forget us when you get there.

Corroborating, Mr. Charles Uzuegbu who decried the obvious penurious condition of the people over the years, assured the frontline candidate and all other candidates of the party, of their unrelenting commitment towards ensuring their victory in their various polling units.

“We’re solidly behind you; Obohia is behind you. If only the new Electoral Law Act will be implemented, we shall deliver Labour. We know you will relieve us of our suffering. We’re the greatest Agrarians but we don’t have roads.

Responding, in his ecstatic state, the ebullient son of Ohuhu thanked the people of Obohia for forfeiting their programmes to answer his extemporaneous call.IMG20230120124703 IMG20230120132254

Aguocha who exuded an aura of confidence, recounted on the feats he had achieved for the people of Ohuhu during his days to them as the best serving President-general of Ohuhu Development Union.

Among the achievements he outlined were building of bridges, provision of uninterrupted security, scholarships for the people of Ohuhu, etc.

In his words:
“I built bridges for my people as the president-general, I provided security for my people, I made peace, offered free education and empowerment to my people and I made sure there was intense peace among my people. Also, I provided them with palliative during Covid-19 pandemic. But, I’m not saying I did all with my money alone. And I am going there to replicate that among the entire Ikwuano/Umuahia and I shall do more.”

“I know you are renowned agrarians and are in dire need of good access roads to enable you transport your farm produce and my assurance to you and the entire people of Ikwuano is that I shall not relent in making sure your roads are accessible.

Furthermore, Aguocha charged the people to desist from criticising the incumbent member representing the Constituency, Rep. Sam Ifeanyichukwu Onuigbo, insisting that the latter had evidently made frantic efforts to revamp the road condition of the area but was hindered by funds pausity, as well as bad government, as it were.

“Anyone who criticises Rep. Sam Onuigbo already habours malice in his mind because Government is not an easy task. I’m aware of all his efforts to ensure that these roads are fixed. I have seen your roads. I know that ndi Ikwuano don’t have good roads. I shall continue from where he stopped to ensure that your major markets attain the standard of modern markets. You are the major producers of farm produce and cash crops like garri, vegetables and cocoa, respectively.

“We shall transform your popular Ariam and Ndoro markets and make them become modern markets. Like here in Ibere, it is the duty of Government to provide you with silos for the storage of the cash crop which you are known for -cocoa. And then a mini factory can be established for the processing of this farm produce into products like Bournvita, Milo, Chocolate, etc. So, all these things are possible if you support LP both at all levels. It will give me, your son access to the President, Mr. Peter Obi who is not just an Igbo man but also our in-law”, he added.

The foremost House of Representatives candidate who has been a source of nightmares to his counterparts, described his emergence as a candidate as apt, alleging that many have over the years, ascribed themselves to as “Deputy Jesus”, thus determining the fate of others in the State.

Describing himself as God-sent, Aguocha restated that “this is God’s appointed time to rescue the people of Ikwuano/Umuahia and the entire State from the hands of those who see themselves as “Deputy Jesus, because some people see themselves as Deputy Jesus in Abia State.

Continuing, he said: “Instead of ameliorate the people’s suffering, they choose to enrich themselves with public’s funds without minding how many people who have died as a result. For the first time, we want to elect people with conscience. The way I want to be treated is the same way I would like to treat others”, he noted.

In addition, the prospective Federal Representative enjoined the people to vote Peter Obi, the presidential candidate in the course of the exercise and also extend same to all other candidates of the party across the State, stressing that it would be in the interest of the people to have credible candidates in the corridors of power.

“The North, West, South and East have accepted Peter Obi will be the next President. This is a proof of the word of God, wherein it is written: “when a man’s way pleases God, he makes his enemies be at peace with him. Peter Obi has come to save the us.

Meanwhile, Aguocha who at different fora has reaffirmed his status as a Biafralan, used the medium to call for prayers for the healing of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, who has been in the custody of Department of State Services, DSS, since the year 2021, following unlawful arrest in Kenya by the Nigeria government.

He, therefore, called on the federal government of Nigeria under the leadership of President Mohammadu Buhari to adhere to the verdict of the Court which ordered for the immediate, unconditional release of Kanu.

“We have faith that Mazi Nnamdi Kanu who believes in equity, fairness and justice and I urge you to always remember him in your prayers; pray for God’s healing upon him and for God to compel President Buhari to release Nnamdi Kanu unconditionally as ordered by the various Courts.
