GOMEP-NG President Otiti Pledges Reforms to Strengthen Online Media in Nigeria

Nigeria’s fast-growing online media industry could be heading for a new era of professionalism as GOMEP-NG President Akpovoke Otiti promises stronger standards, ethical practice and wider collaboration across the sector.

The National President of the Guild of Online Media Practitioners of Nigeria (GOMEP-NG), Comr. Akpovoke Otiti, has pledged to pursue reforms aimed at strengthening professionalism, credibility and ethical standards in Nigeria’s rapidly expanding online media industry.

GOMEP-NG President Akpovoke Otiti has pledged to pursue reforms aimed at improving professionalism, credibility, ethical standards and sustainable growth in Nigeria’s online media industry. He also called for stronger cooperation between practitioners, government and other stakeholders.

Otiti said every available means within his capacity would be deployed to promote meaningful reforms and create an environment where online media practitioners can operate with greater professionalism and credibility.

Otiti Promises Stronger Online Media Standards

The GOMEP-NG President said online media has become an important part of Nigeria’s information ecosystem.

He therefore called for stronger cooperation among practitioners, government agencies, media organisations and other stakeholders.

According to him, such cooperation is needed to address emerging challenges and establish standards that can improve the reputation and impact of online journalism in Nigeria.

GOMEP-NG Seeks Government Collaboration

Otiti urged the Federal Government and relevant agencies to work with GOMEP-NG to advance the online media sector.

He also called on media organisations and other stakeholders to support efforts aimed at improving professionalism and sustainable growth.

The GOMEP-NG President stressed that online media practitioners have an important role in communicating government policies, programmes and initiatives to citizens.

At the same time, he emphasised the need for timely and credible information.

Commitment to Partnership

Otiti assured government institutions and other stakeholders that GOMEP-NG remains willing to partner with them.

He promised continued collaboration in building a stronger online media industry.

He further encouraged practitioners to work together in addressing challenges facing the sector.

According to him, greater unity and cooperation will help create professional standards capable of giving Nigerian online media greater recognition and influence.
