We will give Nigerians a different Police Force—more civil, more professional and more committed to serving the people,” FCT Commissioner of Police A.M. Sanusi declared after receiving an Award of Honour from GOMEP-NG.
The Commissioner of Police for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, CP A.M. Sanusi, has assured Nigerians of a “different Police Force” built on professionalism, discipline and people-centred policing after receiving an Award of Honour from the Guild of Online Media Editors and Publishers of Nigeria (GOMEP-NG) during a courtesy visit to his office in Abuja.
Abuja, Nigeria – The Commissioner of Police, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command, CP A.M. Sanusi, has reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to a more professional, disciplined and people-oriented policing system, assuring Nigerians that they would continue to witness a “different Police Force” dedicated to protecting lives and property.
Sanusi gave the assurance while receiving an Award of Honour from the Guild of Online Media Editors and Publishers of Nigeria (GOMEP-NG) during a courtesy visit by the Guild’s National Executive Council to his office in Abuja last week.
The GOMEP-NG delegation was led by the National President, Comrade Akpovoke Otiti, and included the National Organising Secretary, Comrade Ikechi Enwereji, National Publicity Secretary, Comrade Tochukwu Eluwa, National Treasurer Comrade Charity Uwakwe (Distinguished Chacha), and other executive members.

Presenting the award on behalf of the Guild, the delegation commended the FCT Police Commissioner for his outstanding leadership, dedication and commitment to combating crime and improving security across the Federal Capital Territory.
The Guild described the award as a token of appreciation for Sanusi’s exemplary service and expressed confidence that the recognition would inspire him to sustain and expand his efforts in protecting residents.
GOMEP-NG also pledged its continued partnership with the Nigeria Police in promoting public safety and supporting the collective fight against crime through responsible journalism and public enlightenment.

Speaking during the visit, GOMEP-NG President, Comrade Akpovoke Otiti, said the delegation deemed it necessary to identify with the Commissioner because of the remarkable work he has been doing since assuming office.
“We are in the state on a courtesy visit, and we considered it necessary to visit the hardworking Commissioner. There was no way we could come here without stopping by to identify with him and appreciate the tremendous work he is doing,” Otiti said.
Responding, CP Sanusi expressed gratitude to the Guild for the honour, describing the recognition as a pleasant surprise.
“We accept this award wholeheartedly, and we assure you that it will inspire us to do even more. We will continue to justify the confidence you have reposed in us and ensure that you never regret honouring us in this manner,” he said.

The Commissioner noted that the award was particularly meaningful because it was presented voluntarily without prior notice.
“We simply thought you were coming on a courtesy visit. This was a very pleasant and welcome surprise—what I would call a wonderful ambush,” he remarked.
Reaffirming his leadership philosophy, Sanusi said he believes in leading from the front rather than remaining behind a desk.
“Our duty is to be out there, working tirelessly to ensure the safety and security of our people. I have always believed in leading from the front. If I stay too long without being actively involved in operations, I become restless. That is simply who I am,” he stated.
He further assured Nigerians that the Nigeria Police Force under his watch in the FCT would continue to embrace reforms aimed at building public confidence.
“The Nigeria Police Force is committed to leading from the front, and we want to assure Nigerians that they will continue to see a different Police Force—one that is more civil, more professional, more disciplined and more committed to serving the people,” Sanusi said.
The visit ended with renewed commitments from both the Police Command and GOMEP-NG to strengthen collaboration in promoting security, public trust and responsible information dissemination in Nigeria.
