  1. Educational Qualifications: How Tinubu Contradicts Self

Femi Aribasala has taken to his Twitter handle to debunk Bola Tinubu’s viral statement regarding his educational background, in his bid to drive home his 2023 presidential ambition, saying that he Aribasala
was in GCI from 1962-1968, and Tinubu was not there.

The former Lagos governor, had claimed he had two degrees from two American universities, which he further stated had been stolen by unknown soldiers during the military junta of the 1990s.

The disclosures came in an affidavit submitted by Mr Tinubu to the electoral office as part of his eligibility filings for the 2023 presidential elections.

The documents as released on Friday indicated that Mr. Tinubu left the columns for his primary and secondary education unmarked.

He, however, claimed that he obtained a degree in business and administration in 1979, an obvious reference to his previous claims of attending the Chicago State University.

Hear him:
“I went on self-exile from October 1994 to October 1998. When I returned I discovered that all my property, including all the documents relating to my qualifications and my certificates in respect of paragraph three above, were looted by unknown persons.

“My house was a target of series of searches by various security agents from the time the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria was forced to adjourn following the military takeover of government of 17th November 1993.

“I was the chairman of the Senate committee on appropriation, banking and finance. I was also a plaintiff in one of the two suits against the interim national government in 1993.

Meanwhile, the electoral law mandates candidates to submit their personal credentials that will be published for public scrutiny ahead of 2023 elections.

However, Mr Tinubu’s latest claims appear to contradict his previous election submissions, especially in 1999 and 2003 when he ran for office as a governorship candidate in Lagos, wherein he had claimed both times that he attended primary and secondary schools.

According to him, he attended St Paul Children’s Home School, Ibadan, between 1958 to 1964; while his secondary education was at Government College, Ibadan, between 1965 to 1968.

Furthermore, from Ibadan, Mr. Tinubu said he proceed to Richard Daley College, Chicago, from 1969 to 1971.

He stated finally to have attended both Chicago State University and the University of Chicago.

The Chicago State University confirmed Mr. Tinubu as its student, graduating with a degree in business and administration on June 22, 1979.

All the submissions were, however, challenged as fraudulent by a prominent Nigerian lawyer, Gani Fawehinmi.

Reacting to Tinubu’s claims, Femi Aribasala criticized Tinubu for contradicting himself thereby informing INEC that he attended neither primary nor secondary school and that his University certificate was stolen by some unknown soldier, as he consequently does has no certificate to tender for his presidential ambition ahead of 2023 elections.

In a post he made on Twitter, Aribasala stated that he had wrote in year 2014 that Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s affidavit that he attended Government College Ibadan (GCI) between 1965 and 1968 is false.

Aribasala, who visibly in his comment, accused Tinubu of commiting perjury, revealed that he was a student at the college from 1962 to 1968 and Tinubu was not present there throughout his stay at the school.

He stated:
“I wrote in 2014 that Tinubu’s affidavit that he attended Government College Ibadan (GCI) between 1965 and 1968 is false. I was in GCI from 1962-1968, and Tinubu was not there. Tinubu now tells INEC he did not go to primary or secondary school. This means he committed perjury”, were the words of Femi Aribisala in a recent post.

In my opinion, I feel tha Asiwaju Bola Tinubu does not really have good grades in lying otherwise how could he claim to have been to the high institution without presenting a copy of his WAEC or at least NECO certificate, as a proof of his purported secondary education? Please, Bola Tinubu should make haste and present his educational qualification as a prospective President of Nigeria because time is far spent and Nigerians are waiting in anticipation.
