Leaders of host Communities of Solid Minerals in Ebonyi State have lauded Governor David Umahi’s new policy and directives on collection of IGR accruing to both State, Local Government and Host Communities at the various sites.
The host Communities, amidst great delight expressed acceptance of the new method during the meeting of the Commissioner for Solid Minerals, Hon. Jonah Egba
and a group of persons, comprising Town Union Presidents, Landlords’ Association, Youth Leaders key stakeholders, held at Multi Purpose Hall Cabinet office Abakaliki.
The Hon. Commissioner while briefing stakeholders, noted that the companies shall henceforth pay both State government, Local government and host community haulage and other fees directly to the State IGR account, from where the money shall be accordingly disbursed to all the benefiting LGA’s and Communities based on the amount due to them.
Hon. Egba stressed that the that the new policy IGR collection would pave the way for transparency, accountability and at the same time ensure that both the investors, government and host communities are not denied their deserved benefits at the end of every month.
He charged town union Presidents, Landlords Associations and youth leaders to prudently use whatever they receive, while urging them on the need outstanding peace and security in the various communities.
