Criminalities In Umuahia: Hear Eze Egbeogu’s Revelation On Protecting Hoodlums In Okwuta Community

The traditional ruler of Okwuta
Ibeku Autonomous Community, in Umuahia North LGA of Abia State has unequivocally
exonerated his stool and community from an alleged celebration of criminalities and the perpetrators in Umuahia.

Eze Egbeogu, while reacting to the statement by the commissioner of Police, Abia State Command, CP Ene Okon, wherein the latter asserted that some communities in Umuahia  celebrate criminals and criminalities, stressing that his community does not tolerate let alone protect hoodlums as alleged.



Eze Egbeogu reiterated that criminal acts in his community were never swept under carpet over the years, pointing out that his has never made deaf ears to the yearnings of the people as regards securing lives and property.



HRH Eze Dan N. Egbeogu, Okwu- Ukwu Ezema (11) of  Ibeku made this refutal during an exclusive interview with Famous Reporters, insisting that Okwuta land does not encourage criminal acts and let alone preventing the law from taking its course on any identified suspect in their midst.

The royal father amidst regrets, however, admitted to the abrupt increase in criminalities in the state’s capital in recent times, particularly the killing of
Mr. & Mrs Darlington Chinyere Uzoma, January 25, after robbing them of their proceeds from the day’s sale, along Secretariat Road, Ogurube layout, Umuahia.

“In fact, in recent times, security in Umuahia has not been very good. Umuahia is a capital city and all the villages and communities surrounding it have been reporting the increase in criminal activities and it got to the climax when they killed a couple along BCA road in a broad daylight but before then, there had been reports about hoodlums raiding people’s houses even in the town, moving from house to house and dispossessing them of their goods and property”.

“So, that has been the report all along and I sometimes ask myself if the police is not informed about this. But, then it that man and his wife were killed after they dispossessed them of their money, that was when it came to the fore that really things had got out of hand”, lamented.

Famous Reporters recalls that our source had during a press conference accused traditional rulers in most communities in Umuahia, of warning their people not to invite the police for the arrest of anyone, saying “these are people who have criminal viruses in them”.
