The Ondo State Police Command has arraigned a 51-year-old teacher, Gbogidi Ojo Williams, before an Akure Magistrate’s Court for allegedly killing one Abayomi Olamitoke by beating him to death.

According to the police prosecutor, Taiwo Oniyere, the defendant, alongside others now at large, allegedly committed the offence on September 16, 2025, at about 2:30 p.m. at Akunmi Quarters, Akungba-Akoko.

Oniyere stated that the accused persons conspired to commit a felony “to wit: murder.”

The charge sheet reads:

“That you, Gbogidi Ojo Williams ‘m’, and others now at large, on the same date, time, and place in the aforementioned Magisterial District, did beat one Abayomi Olamitoke ‘m’ to death.”

The prosecutor added that the offence contravenes Sections 324 and 316, and is punishable under Section 319 of the Ondo State Criminal Code.

The court, presided over by Magistrate Odenusi-Fadeyi Olateju, did not take the defendant’s plea.

Oniyere further requested that Williams be remanded pending legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

However, the defence counsel, Benjamin Adeyanju, sought an adjournment to enable him file a counter-affidavit.

In her ruling, Magistrate Odenusi-Fadeyi ordered that the defendant be remanded at the State Police Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and adjourned the case until October 7 for further hearing.
