Abia 2023: “If Nothing Is Done, Aba I’ll Lose Identity, But My Government Will Not Allow That”— Mascot

The governorship candidate of the Action Peoples Party (APP) in Abia state, Chief Mascot Uzor Kalu (Nwa-Aba), has expressed his displeasure at the rate at which businesses are getting asphyxiated in Aba due to the infrastructural decay, especially the deplorable road conditions of the city, noting that if something is not done, the Enyimba city will lose its trading identity.

Chief Kalu, who visited Uratta Ward 16 yesterday in continuation of his ongoing ward-round tour, frowned at the effects of the dreadful roads of Aba, which have led to declining sales of traders.

The former Abia state Chief of Staff recalled how foreigners influx the Ariaria market, for instance, to buy goods but have diverted to Onitsha because of the terrible roads in Aba.

“Traders in Aba are now losing their customers to Onitsha because of bad roads. If the roads are not good for people to transport the goods they have bought back to the point of sale, how do you expect them to keep coming?” he questioned.”

Chief Kalu, therefore, vowed not to allow the art of trading, which Aba is known for, to die, as his government would create an enabling environment for businesses to thrive by fixing the infrastructural decay of the city.
