How Ebonyi School Senior Prefect Allegedly Assaulted Female Student
A disagreement over a simple instruction to kneel reportedly ended in a physical assault, prompting school authorities in Ebonyi State to intervene and suspend a senior prefect.
A senior prefect of Community Secondary School, Okpitumo, in Ikwo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, has reportedly been suspended following allegations that he physically assaulted a female student for refusing to kneel before him.
The incident, which reportedly occurred on Friday, October 30, 2026, was brought to public attention by a Facebook user identified as Igwe Royal, who claimed that the affected student was his daughter.
In a Facebook post, the girl’s father alleged that the senior prefect assaulted her after she refused to obey his instruction to kneel before him.
He expressed his displeasure over the incident, writing:
“SP of community secondary school Okpitumo Ikwo LGA Ebonyi State Did this to my daughter today in the school, just coz she refused to knee down to him.”
However, in a subsequent update, Igwe Royal disclosed that the school management had intervened and that the matter had been addressed.
He said a meeting was convened with representatives of the Ikwo Education Authority, the school’s principal, the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) chairman, teachers, the community’s youth president, the village chairman and the victim’s father in attendance.
According to him, the meeting resulted in the suspension of the senior prefect over the alleged assault.
He further disclosed that other senior students had been warned against bullying their junior colleagues.
Sharing the outcome of the meeting, the father wrote:
“This matter has been resolved today by the school management of the Community secondary school Okpitumo Ikwo LGA Ebonyi State.
The Education Authority Ikwo chapter, the principal of the college, the PTA chairman of the school, the national youth president of Okpitumo Ikwo, the teachers of the above school, myself, the father of the victim girl, the village chairman of the community and indeed those who were in attendance of the settlement.
“And the SP has been suspended for such action and warned all the senior students to stop bullying on the junior session.”
The development has again drawn attention to the importance of protecting students from bullying and ensuring that school authorities maintain a safe and respectful learning environment for all students.
