Fidelity Bank Promotes 433 Employees in 2026 Promotion Exercise

By Our Correspondent

LAGOS, Nigeria — Fidelity Bank Plc has promoted 433 employees under its 2026 Promotion and Notch Award Exercise, recognising staff performance and reinforcing its focus on career growth and leadership development.

About 13 per cent of the bank’s workforce benefited from the exercise. The figure represents an increase from the 12 per cent recorded in 2025 and 11 per cent in 2024.

In 2025, 376 employees were promoted, while 337 employees received promotions in 2024.

The latest exercise reflects Fidelity Bank’s stated commitment to recognising excellence, rewarding strong performance and building a high-performance culture across the organisation.

Fidelity Bank strengthens staff development

Since assuming office as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Nneka Onyeali Ikpe has overseen annual promotion exercises aimed at recognising employee contributions, strengthening institutional capacity and developing a strong leadership pipeline.

Beyond promotions, Fidelity Bank has also continued to invest in employee welfare and professional development.

The bank increased salaries across all categories and grade levels in 2022, 2024 and 2025. It also introduced staff buses to ease commuting and improved medical support for employees.

In addition, learning and development programmes have been expanded to support staff productivity, career progression and workplace satisfaction.

The bank has also extended its mortgage loan and home ownership scheme to employees from the Assistant Banking Executive to Deputy Manager cadres.

Furthermore, the applicable mortgage limits were increased for qualified employees in line with current market conditions.

This means that eligible employees below the Manager cadre can also access mortgage support under the scheme.

Bank focuses on employee welfare and career growth

Fidelity Bank has sustained other initiatives aimed at improving employee engagement, teamwork and work-life balance.

The bank has also promoted professional certification and continuous skills development among its workforce.

These measures, according to the bank, are designed to build a motivated and future-ready workforce.

Industry observers have also linked such employee-focused initiatives to Fidelity Bank’s reputation as an employer within Nigeria’s financial services sector.

The 2026 promotion exercise is part of the bank’s broader people strategy to attract, develop, reward and retain talent.

The strategy places emphasis on discipline, professionalism, innovation, customer focus and sustained performance.

Employees who have been promoted are expected to take on greater responsibilities as the bank continues to strengthen its institutional capacity.
