A RARE GIFT TO MANKIND: X-raying Mayor Nwaka’s landmark achievements in Ikwuano (See Videos+photos)
As a daughter of the soil, I could state frantically that Ikwuano Local Government Area of Abia State, had over the years, been relegated to the background, despite having prominent sons and daughters whose names ring like bells outside the community.
I remember at the age of six (6), as I observed keenly, what seemed like a tradition; better put, a ritual among the people; situation whereby the roads were graded and left half done. To me then, I saw that as a culture up until I attained the age of reasoning, during which I vividly understood that our elected leaders merely used our roads as campaign tools.
This trend continued for many decades but was defied by the emergence of the present administration of the Labour Party (LP) government, under the astute leadership of Dr. Alex Otti Ofr, and subsequently the Messiah arrival of Mayor Osinachi Nwaka, the Mayor of Ikwuano Local Government Area.
Every sincere individual from Ikwuano and all lovers of truth can state that the emergence of Nwaka has done more good than harm to the Council. This young man, upon assumption of office, sent a stern warning message to hoodlums who were in the habit of stealing and vandalizing the local government’s property. Also, he did not stop at that, rather he unhesitatingly provided adequate security for the council, which is one of the core qualities of a good leader, hence protecting lives and property of the led.
It is also in record that upon assumption, Mayor Nwaka, without hesitation, changed the living standards of staff of the council thereby renovating various buildings including the fence which had remained dilapidated for many decades despite having past Chairmen both elected and appointed. Mayor Hycinth Nwaka without batting an eye on his predecessors who left without any landmark achievements in the Council whatsoever, revamped the Council.
I hear a lot of people recite things like: “Ossy Nwaka is favoured by the Governor” but I am yet to hear any of these people peddling various rumours tell us why they feel Mayor Nwaka is being favoured by the Governor. However, the answer lies within the hearts honest minds: Mayor Nwaka found his way into the heart of the Governor through his humanitarian services to mankind.
He began giving back to the society even while he scarcely could imagine himself being in corridors of power. He broke the jinx of bad leadership and poor representation in Ikwuano.
It’s not gainsaying that Mayor Nwaka’s love and sincere heartbeat for the downtrodden is so intense that it could be felt.
He has, aside from his commitment to making better the lot of the community both as a Mayor and the President of New Era Foundation (NEF), his brainchild, Ossy Nwaka is head bent on maintaining a relative peace among party stakeholders and members.
Apart from other magnificent projects, he has purchased computer systems for the administrative offices, erected an edifice for Information Communication Technology, (ICT ) Centre at the council
Notwithstanding the unavoidable rancour and fracas that characterise the present day’s Nigerian politics, Nwaka has never been found in any occasion bantering words with stakeholders nor anyone else all in the name of politics. Neither has he been heard or seen criticising his predecessors or any of the leaders in the Council both during Media and friendly chats. He’s an epitome of love, humility, peace, harmony and benevolence.
The extant rumours of ongoing crisis in Ikwuano Labour Party, under the leadership of Mayor Osinachi Nwaka is an obvious disinformation orchestrated by some faceless and nameless mischief makers, with a sole purpose of ridiculing the image of the indefatigable Mayor before the right thinking members of the society.
This was a man who risked his life and embarked on a journey to rescue three abducted children of his Council. A role that every other leader would unhesitantly shy away from, relegate to their subordinate otherwise live the innocent children at the mercy of security agents who in most cases display a somewhat a lackadeisical attitude unless a man/woman of affluence is in the picture.
Indeed, Nwaka is a rare gift of nature to mankind! Ikwuano has experienced a significant positive development within his few months in office. It’s indeed a fresh breath.
Permit me to borrow from the words of my mentor: ‘You only find human beings casting javelin on a tree with fruits and branches’.
However, just like one of the stakeholders of the party in the Council said and I quote:
“There’s nothing like trouble in the Ikwuano Labour Party. Just that when there’s an election like this, there’s usually disagreement; everyone will choose who he is pleased with. But, once the primary election is over and a candidate emerges, members still come back together and continue to work in unison for the betterment of the party.”
This indeed is a clear meaning of the subsisting situation in the Council; election is drawing closer and everyone wants to defame who they feel is a threat to their success but for how long shall we continue with this politics of malice, hatred, anger, jealousy, pull him down syndrome (PhDs) in our dear Ikwuano?
For records, below are the verifiable projects and achievements of the Mayor of Ikwuano Local Government Area:
*Construction of an ICT Center at the council
*Full rehabilitation of Council Stadium with convenience and roofing.
*Rehabilitation of Agricultural departments office
*New 30 KVA generator for the council and new generator house
*New 300KVA Transformer for Isiala community and the Council.
*One Sienna Bus and three Bikes for Homeland Security patrol and emergency rescue
*Six Boreholes across Ikwuano
*Massive grading of rural roads
*Rescue of three abducted boys from the hand of kidnappers from Anambra State and Delta.
*Empowerment of four people with disability with N250k each by LGA Platform known as TGIF(Thank God is Friday with Dr Alex Otti)
11)Rehabilitation of the health center at Obi ugwu at Ariam Usaka
12) Landscaping and good Road network at the council.
13)Reconstruction and Expansion of Elemaga/Itunta Bridge
14)Erosion control of Elemaga Road
15) Inclusive governance of taking care of 120 widows with food,money n clothes.
It is worthy of note to state emphatically that I am not on the payroll of the Mayor lest I get accused of holding brief for the Mayor. I am rather a custodian of truth and justice and I do that for free despite the odds.
In.summary, if I were asked to define Mayor Ossy Nwaka, I would state in a few words that:
“Mayor Osinachi Nwaka is the best thing that has ever happened to Ikwuano LGA of Abia State.
