The tragic incident occurred at approximately 3:38 a.m. on Tuesday, October 6, outside an apartment building on Olinville Avenue, near Allerton Avenue in the Bronx.

Ramirez was rushed to a hospital following the fall but later died from her injuries. Her infant daughter was taken to Jacobi Medical Center in critical condition but has since improved to stable condition and is expected to survive.

According to police, Ramirez may have helped protect her daughter during the fall by holding the infant tightly against her body, potentially cushioning the baby’s impact.

Neighbours Recall Woman’s Desperate Pleas

The incident has raised fresh concerns about the couple’s reported history of domestic disputes.

A 69-year-old neighbour, Nancy Morales, said she heard Ramirez pleading with Carrasco to leave her alone during the early-morning confrontation.

Morales reportedly heard the young mother shouting, “Stop! You’re scaring the baby!”

Another neighbour described the couple’s relationship as troubled, claiming that they frequently argued.

According to the neighbour, Ramirez sometimes locked Carrasco out of their apartment, after which he allegedly forced his way inside by kicking the door open.

Police had reportedly responded to disputes involving the couple twice in January. During one of the incidents, on January 5, Ramirez allegedly told officers that Carrasco had assaulted her.

Police Search for Suspect

Investigators are continuing their search for Carrasco as they piece together the circumstances surrounding the fatal incident.

Surveillance footage reportedly showed a man identified as Carrasco leaving the area at approximately 3:45 a.m., shortly after the incident. He was reportedly wearing a tan hoodie and carrying a backpack.

Authorities have urged caution, warning that the suspect should be considered armed and dangerous.

The infant’s recovery offers a measure of hope amid the tragedy, as investigators continue working to establish the full circumstances surrounding her mother’s death.
