Saturday, 30th of January, 2021 was a site to behold at Uburu the hometown of the governor of Ebonyi State, Chief David Umahi and the minister of science and technology, Dr Ogbonnaya Onu.
The event of the day was the chieftaincy coronation of the Minister as the “Onyibe of Adu Kingdom”.
The title is said to be the highest chieftaincy title given to any worthy citizen of the community.
The event was slated to hold at the Uburu Civic Center when a truckload of policemen came and sealed it up and dispersed a handful of natives gathered already.
However, a few minutes after, the Minister arrived the scene with a mammoth crowd who forced the police out of the arena for the event of the day.
While addressing the crowd, the Minister frowned at the despotic nature of the governor.
He charged the people not to bother over the petty attitude of the governor as politics of sentiment has no place in the cultural heritage of Uburu kingdom.
Meanwhile, he thanked the people for the honour and pledged to remain a worthy son.
It would be recalled that the minister had conspicuously absconded from the ceremony that ushered the governor Umahi from the PDP to the APC in November, 2020.
Moreso, Minister Onu has also been seen avoiding all meetings of the party in Ebonyi since the governor cross carpeted from his former party to the ruling APC.
