WHY NDI – OHUHU AND IKWUANO UMUAHIA SHOULD SUPPORT OBI AGUOCHA (Part 3)

By Stephen Ezeniro, Enugu

Ikwuano Umuahia used to be one powerful entity during the period late Dr. Micheal Iheonukara Okpara was Premier of Old Eastern Region, that today comprises of Nine states.

Dr Okpara, brought even development devoid of clannishness, corruption and greed. He saw every community within the Region as one, hence the spread in his developmental projects.

As an Ohuhu man, knowing that his people have vast land mass, he would have chosen to build the Ceramics Industry, Golden Guinea Brewery among others in his place, but he choose otherwise. He allowed politicians from other communities to thrive without running them out using falsehood, intimidation and divide and rule system.

Ikwuano Umuahia, since the time of Okpara did not taste such executive power untill the emergence of Chief Theodore Ahamefula Orji in 2007. To ndi Ikwuano/ Umuahia, they felt another Okpara had come hoping and believing that the zone will prosper economically, infrastructuraly and empowerment of their people, all their expectations were dashed.

Rather than grow the constituency it became worse than he met it. All the known politicians before TA Orji’s emergency was ridiculed and disgraced and eased out, while the younger once was turned to be servants, who worship him and his family as god. No wonder, as he was leaving office as governor, TA Orji ensured that he and his son Engr Chinedum Orji went to senate and state House of assembly respectively.

One family have served as Chief of Staff for almost Eight years, Governor Eight years, Senator Eight years, Leader of the house Four years and Speaker Four years. As TA Orji is planning to retire, his son is planning to be a member of the Federal House of Representatives, where is equity, where is justice, where is conscience, where is fairness. Is this not greed of the highest order?.

Therefore, there comes a time when an individual with extra ordinary philosophy, talent, determination and impeccable humanitarian attributes, sets out on a mission to librate, positively impact and change the ugly narratives. That man is High Chief Obi Aguocha, a community leader who understands the pains and needs of the down trodden, a high player, who understands the intricacies of power play at that level. A man with vast contact in Nigeria and in diaspora, very humble and accessible.

No doubt the people of Ikwuano Umuahia have suffered humiliation, retrogressed and neglected by their own, who ensured that no one from this Federal constituency rise above their family. Must it continue?

Obi Aguocha of the Labour Party is a round peg in a round hole, he remains the best candidate for Ikwuano Umuahia Federal constituency.

A vote for Obi Aguocha of the Labour Party is a vote for the liberation of the people of Ikwuano Umuahia Federal constituency.
