Married Student’s Husband Flogs University HOD Over Alleged Sex-for-Project Demand
A shocking incident involving allegations of sexual harassment, academic misconduct, and mob assault has sparked outrage, raising fresh concerns over the safety and integrity of Nigeria’s higher education system.
A university Head of Department was allegedly assaulted after a married female student accused him of demanding sexual favours as a condition for approving her academic project. The incident reportedly occurred after the student’s husband allegedly set a trap following claims that the lecturer had delayed her graduation for years.
A lecturer serving as the Head of the Department of History and International Studies at Northwest University (formerly Yusuf Maitama Sule University), and also a visiting lecturer at Mariam Abacha American Nigerian University (MAAUN), was allegedly assaulted after being accused of demanding sexual favours from a married female student in exchange for approving her project.
According to unverified accounts circulating online, the lecturer allegedly delayed the student’s academic project for nearly 10 years after she reportedly rejected his repeated requests for “sexual favours.”
The situation reportedly escalated when the student informed her husband about the alleged harassment. Consequently, the husband was said to have arranged a meeting with the lecturer through the student.
Sources claimed the lecturer accepted the invitation, allegedly believing he was meeting the student. Some reports further alleged that chat conversations showed plans for the meeting shortly after Maghrib prayers.
However, Famous Reporters could not independently verify the authenticity of the alleged messages.
Instead of meeting the student, the lecturer reportedly encountered her husband and several other men at the agreed location.
Witnesses alleged that the lecturer was physically assaulted before being handed over to the police.
As of the time of filing this report, the circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear. Neither Northwest University nor Mariam Abacha American Nigerian University had issued an official statement, while the police had yet to confirm the allegations or provide details of any investigation.
Famous Reporters could not independently verify the claims contained in the viral reports and will provide updates as more credible information becomes available.
