UMUAHIA NORTH STATE CONSTITUENCY: ADC candidate, Amalambu vows to criminalize non-payment of pensions/salaries
The African Democratic Congress ADC Umuahia North State Constituency candidate for the year 2023 House of Assembly election, Rev. Blessed Amalambu says the act of depriving pensioners and workers of their gratuities and salaries respectively, is equivalent to murder.
According to Rev. Amalambu, such gross wickedness to humanity ought to be banned otherwise treated as a criminal case.
The clergy who called for the support of electorates in his Constituency, disclosed his zeal to pursue a bill that would criminalize non-payment of pensions/salaries to genuine pensioners and workers in the State.
Speaking during a consultation visit to Umuire village in Umuahia North L.G.A, of Abia State, Rev. Amalambu described as wicked and evil to withold the pensions and salaries of those who is serving and who selflessly served in the civil/public service system for about 35 year meritoriously.
“It is a criminal offense; it’s a murder case because so many people die as a result of the non-payment of their salaries and pensions. How do they survive without payment? These are parents whose kids are in school and at a point, they kids get driven out of school for not paying their school fees.
“Apart from hunger and educational implications, they can’t access medical treatments nor their house rents. They get ejected by landlords and break down in their health yet they don’t have funds to get necessary treatment and in the process, some of them die. And I’m saying that those who have withheld their salaries or pensions should be held responsible for their death. Every worker deserves their wages.”
Amalambu maintained that in line with equity and fairness, Nkwoachara ward in Umuahia North State Constituency ought to be given a fair treatment in the forthcoming House of Assembly election, as they have “Rev. Blessed Uchechukwu Amalambu who is competent and experienced and who has never been a failure in all his previous outings”.
His words, ” I have a divine assignment given to me by God to represent my Constituency and my Constituency, my project will be my watch word. I am going to protect the cause and course of Ohuhu clan”, Amalambu assured the people of Umuire.
He further informed that the youths will not be left out in his programmes, as he will effect youth empowerment and skills acquisition scheme in Ohuhu clan.
Earlier in his speech, the Umuire community village head, High Chief Onyegbule Onyemaobi solicited support for the ADC candidate, pointing out that Amalambu is a true Minister of God who strongly believes in good governance embedded in transparency, integrity, humility and honesty.
In their respective speeches also, the village youth leader, Mr. Chukwuemeka Chilaka; Elder Nnanna Nwoko; Chief Joseph Ukara among others, observed that things are not going the right way in the society because the electorates through their activities, unintentionally voted in the wrong candidates to power but assured that such ugly development will not see the light of the day in the forthcoming general election.
They passionately appealed that the attention of the INEC be brought to the village, as they have eligible voters who are yet to be registered and also obtain their Permanent Voter Cards, PVCs.
