Oborevwori to Attend GOMEP-NG 2026 Conference as Special Guest
Governor to join media stakeholders in Abuja for discussions on information integrity and Nigeria’s 2027 elections
As Nigeria prepares for the 2027 elections, Delta Governor Sheriff Oborevwori is set to join online media professionals in Abuja for a major conversation on information integrity, public trust and responsible digital journalism.
Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori will serve as Special Guest of Honour at the 2026 GOMEP-NG Annual Conference in Abuja on November 26. The conference will focus on the role of online media in information integrity, public trust and democratic resilience ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 elections.
Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Francis Orohwedor Oborevwori, will attend the 2026 Annual Conference, Lecture and Workshop of the Guild of Online Media Editors and Publishers of Nigeria (GOMEP-NG) as Special Guest of Honour.
The announcement was contained in a release signed by Tochukwu Eluwa, National Publicity Secretary of GOMEP-NG.
The conference is scheduled for Thursday, November 26, 2026, at the Maryam Babangida National Centre for Women Development, opposite the Central Bank of Nigeria Headquarters, Abuja.
Proceedings will begin at 10:00 a.m.
Themed “Securing Nigeria’s 2027 Elections: The Role of Online Media in Information Integrity, Public Trust and Democratic Resilience,” the conference will bring together online media practitioners, policymakers, academics and other stakeholders.
Participants are expected to examine the role of digital media in promoting credible information and strengthening public trust ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 general elections.
Oborevwori to join discussions on media and governance
According to the release, Governor Oborevwori’s administration has anchored its development programme on the MORE Agenda, with emphasis on meaningful development, opportunities, realistic reforms, peace and security.
The programme covers areas including infrastructure, healthcare, education, youth and women empowerment, as well as support for economic development.
His participation as Special Guest of Honour is expected to bring a governance perspective to discussions on information integrity, responsible journalism, public trust and democratic resilience.
The conference will also examine some of the major challenges facing online journalism, including misinformation, disinformation, professional ethics and the need for credible information during the electoral process.
GOMEP-NG said the event will provide an opportunity for media professionals and other stakeholders to exchange ideas on strengthening responsible digital journalism and improving the quality of information available to citizens.
The conference will commence at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 26, 2026, at the Maryam Babangida National Centre for Women Development, Abuja.
