Nigerian Government Cracks Down On Protest Sponsors
By Elizabeth Austin, Abuja.
In a move to quell the ongoing #Endbadgovernance protests, the Nigerian government has placed sponsors of the movement on a watchlist and at the same time, blocked their bank accounts.
The Comptroller-General of the Nigerian Immigration Services (NIS), Kemi Nandap, revealed that the sponsors, mostly based abroad, have been identified and are being closely monitored.
According to Nandap, “We have identified the Diaspora sponsors of the protests, and they are on our watchlist. If they attempt to enter the country, we will be notified, and they will be apprehended and handed over to the appropriate authorities.”

The Department of State Services (DSS) has also uncovered some sponsors, although details remain scarce.
The DSS spokesman, Peter Afunanya, confirmed that some bank accounts linked to the sponsors have been blocked, with individuals operating these accounts being monitored, both within and outside the country.
