In a strategic move to reinforce Lagos’ security framework, the Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, on Thursday paid a courtesy visit to the new Executive Secretary/CEO of the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF), Dr. Ayo Ogunsan, at the Fund’s headquarters in Lagos, National Association of Online Security News Publishers (NAOSNP) reports.
The visit signaled a renewed commitment to expanding operational synergy between the Police Command and LSSTF, boosting crime-fighting capacity, and strengthening collaborative efforts aimed at securing Africa’s leading commercial hub.
Welcoming the Commissioner, Dr. Ogunsan expressed deep appreciation for what he described as “an honour and privilege,” commending CP Jimoh for his exceptional leadership and professionalism.
“You are very special,” he said. “There are so many firsts about you. You have done a lot, yet you remain unassuming and always share credit with your team.”
The LSSTF helmsman praised the Commissioner’s passion, noting that his work ethic and relentless dedication are evident in the security atmosphere across the state.
“Your sleepless nights are reflected in the safety Lagos enjoys today,” he remarked. “We understand that policing comes with global challenges, but with good leadership those challenges become surmountable.”

Drawing a vivid comparison, Dr. Ogunsan added:
“It is like having a veteran flying an aircraft — everyone relaxes.”
He also revealed that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has immense confidence in CP Jimoh’s leadership.
“The Governor said that with you at the Command, he doesn’t worry,” Ogunsan stated. “We will continue to work with you. You are the lead agency, and we appreciate you.”
He concluded by promising to reciprocate the Commissioner’s visit “very soon.”
Responding, CP Jimoh thanked the Executive Secretary for the warm reception and reaffirmed the Command’s respect for LSSTF’s critical role.
“We are here to congratulate you and to pledge our full support and cooperation with your administration,” he said.
The Commissioner recalled his long-standing relationship with the Fund.
“Going down memory lane, you were the first person to bring me here to meet the former Executive Secretary,” he noted, highlighting a partnership built over time.
He applauded LSSTF for its continued support—particularly in training, logistics and operational resources—stating that these have been pivotal in improving policing across Lagos.
“Within the nine months I have spent in Lagos, I can say that without your assistance, policing this state would be difficult,”
he said emphatically.
Beyond material support, CP Jimoh emphasized the psychological boost LSSTF gives the Command.
“The confidence we get from LSSTF is amazing,” he added.
Looking forward, he pledged increased collaboration and heightened operational efficiency aimed at ensuring that donors receive “value for every contribution,” making Lagos a reference point for other Nigerian states.
He reiterated the Command’s focus on modern, intelligence-led policing.
“Crime prevention and control are key,” he said. “When you prevent crime, pressure reduces. Crime detection is also crucial, and we will continue to need your support.”
The visit ended with both institutions promising deeper cooperation, new intervention strategies, and a reinforced commitment to safeguarding Lagos.
As Nigeria’s commercial nucleus and one of West Africa’s biggest economic centres, Lagos faces complex security challenges. The renewed alliance between the Lagos State Police Command and LSSTF signals a stronger, unified response to keeping the state safe.
