JUST IN: Soludo Sweeps 19 LGAs in Anambra Governorship Election, Poised for Historic Landslide Victory

“Governor Charles Soludo of APGA is set for a landslide re-election after sweeping 19 LGAs in the 2025 Anambra governorship election. INEC results show Soludo leading across the state as collation nears completion.”

Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo of Anambra State is on the brink of a historic re-election victory after winning all 19 local government areas (LGAs) so far declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Saturday’s governorship election.

Results announced overnight by INEC officials at the State Collation Centre in Awka show Soludo, the candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), maintaining a commanding lead across the declared LGAs, leaving his closest rivals trailing far behind.

The declared results cover key LGAs such as Dunukofia, Njikoka, Ogbaru, Awka North, Awka South, Orumba North, Orumba South, Aguata, and Ekwusigo. Others include Nnewi North, Nnewi South, Anaocha, Idemili North, Idemili South, Onitsha North, Onitsha South, Oyi, Ayamelum, and Anambra East.

INEC temporarily suspended collation for a one-hour break and is expected to resume by 6 a.m. to conclude the exercise. Only Ihiala and Anambra West remain before the final results are officially announced.

If the current trend continues, Soludo will become the third consecutive APGA governor after Peter Obi and Willie Obiano, sustaining the party’s dominance in Anambra for a third straight administration.

Soludo Wins His Polling Unit, Defeats APC, LP Candidates

Earlier, Governor Soludo recorded a landslide victory in his polling unit — PU 002, Ofiyi Square, Isuofia Ward in Aguata Local Government Area — where he cast his vote.

According to results announced by the INEC presiding officer, the APGA candidate scored 417 votes, defeating Nicholas Ukachukwu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who garnered just 4 votes. The ACCORD party candidate managed only 1 vote.

Out of 933 registered voters, 430 were accredited for the poll, with 422 valid votes and 8 invalid ballots recorded.

In a contrasting outcome, the APC governorship candidate, Nicholas Ukachukwu, won his polling unit — PU 12, Ward 2, Umudiala Village, Osumenyi, Nnewi South LGA — with 108 votes, while Soludo polled 4 votes. Other parties recorded no votes, and two ballots were declared invalid, according to Maduka Evan, the INEC presiding officer.

Meanwhile, Labour Party (LP) candidate George Moghalu lost his polling unit to Soludo. At Uruagu Ward 1, Nnewi North LGA, Moghalu scored 22 votes, Ukachukwu of APC got 5 votes, while Soludo of APGA won with 57 votes, as announced by the presiding officer, Okonkwo Ebere.

As INEC prepares to announce the remaining results, early indications suggest Governor Soludo is heading for a landslide re-election, consolidating APGA’s stronghold in Anambra politics.
