Aspirants of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in Isuikwuato, Umunneochi, and Arochukwu State Constituencies have reaffirmed their commitment to unity, teamwork, and peaceful political engagement ahead of the 2027 Abia State House of Assembly elections.
The aspirants made the declaration during interviews with Famous Reporters on Sunday, May 24, 2026, shortly after their screening exercise at the party’s state secretariat in Umuahia, the Abia State capital.
Speaking, Chief Chukwu Emeka Dickson Aladunpali, pioneer leader and founder of NDC in Umunneochi and an aspirant for the State House of Assembly, described the screening exercise as smooth, transparent, and successful.
“Today was an awesome day. We had our screening exercise at the party’s state secretariat, and it was very successful. My colleagues and I from Umunneochi performed well throughout the screening process,” he said.
Chief Aladunpali also commended the state leadership of the party for ensuring a credible process.
“The screening was successful. It was smooth and transparent, and I also wish my colleagues success in the process,” he added.
Similarly, Prince Obinna Udeh, another aspirant, described unity as the defining principle of Umunneochi politics under the NDC platform.
“In Umunneochi, we share a common belief in working in synergy because we come from different zones, with each zone representing a part of the local government. From the screening stage through the primaries, we agreed to remain united and support whoever emerges victorious,” he stated.
According to him, the aspirants are determined to change the political narrative in the constituency through quality representation and collective leadership.
“Our goal is to move forward together and win the election because the current representation is not good enough. We believe it is time to raise the standard and give our people quality representation in the future.
“That is why this synergy is important to us — so we can work together as a team, remain united, and secure victory in the election,” Udeh said.
Also speaking, Engr. Dr. Ndufuoechi Nzubechi stressed the importance of teamwork and stability within the party.
“We believe strongly in teamwork and unity because we want to protect the structure and stability of our party. We have also agreed that whoever emerges victorious will enjoy the support of every one of us individually and collectively,” he said.
Nzubechi further emphasized that the aspirants see themselves as brothers working toward a common goal.
“Obviously, we are brothers, as you can see. We believe in teamwork and unity because we want to protect the structure and peace of our party.
“We also believe that whoever emerges victorious will earn the support of all of us individually. At the end of the process, our collective interest is for the party to succeed and for the eventual State House of Assembly candidate to emerge stronger,” he added.
In a related development, Chief (Engr.) Ifeanyi Okorie, an aspirant for Arochukwu State Constituency and CEO of Planet Table Water, expressed confidence in fairness, equity, and justice within the party.
“I believe strongly in fairness, equity, and justice. If the party finds me worthy to fly its flag, I will gladly accept the responsibility. Even if I do not emerge victorious, I will still work together with whoever emerges to ensure that our party records victory in Arochukwu State Constituency,” he said.
Okorie maintained that Arochukwu needs a fresh political direction capable of delivering development and progress.
“We are confident that, by the grace of God, the party will win every position in Arochukwu because the constituency needs a fresh breath in politics. We want to change the way things have been done and introduce a new narrative that will bring meaningful development to our people,” he added.
Describing fellow aspirants as peaceful and visionary leaders, Okorie noted that unity remains their greatest strength.
“They are wonderful and peaceful people. Most of us are young men with visions for the progress of Arochukwu State Constituency.
“What is most important is that our collective vision is centered on the development of our constituency. Whoever emerges victorious will enjoy the support of the others,” he stated.
He also emphasized the importance of collaboration and peaceful coexistence in politics.
“I believe in free and fair elections. I believe in collaboration, unity, and oneness. There is no point fighting ourselves over positions. The priority is moving Arochukwu forward and bringing development to the local government area,” Okorie added.
Earlier, Hon. Chukwuemeka Mbah reaffirmed the unity among the aspirants, insisting that their shared vision is more important than personal ambition.
“We are expecting a successful outcome for every one of us. As you can see, we are not fighting ourselves over numbers or positions. All of us here are brothers, united with one purpose,” he said.
