IPOB: Ikwuano/Umuahia Member-elect, Aguocha calls for Presidential Intervention over Nnamdi Kanu’s release

House Of Representatives Member-elect, High Chief Obi Aguocha has called for Presidential Intervention For The Release Of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.

Chief. Obinna Aguocha, the House of Representatives Member-Elect, to represent the good and industrious peoples of Ikwuano/ Umuahia North/ Umuahia South Federal Constituency in Abia state, being the home Federal Constituency of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to impress on the Honourable Attorney-General of the Federation, Mallam Abubakar Malami (SAN) to withdraw the appeal they filed against the judgement of the Court of Appeal and release Mazi Nnamdi Kanu from further detention.

This, according to the member-elect, is in accordance to the judgment of the Court of Appeal that had earlier directed his unconditional release and considering there are no pending charges in court against him.

In the statement he issued in Abuja today, Hon. Aguocha said that the release of Kanu would douse tension and insecurity and further enhance the much needed economic emancipation from the erroneously imposed monday sit-at-home – stifling both government and business activities alike.

He noted that similar to the case of Col Sambo Dasuki, the former National Security Adviser to President Goodluck Jonathan, in the primary basis where charges against him were withdrawn by the Federal government, same can be done in the case of Kanu. As equality is equity and justice can be tempered with mercy.

He expressed confidence in the ability of political leaders, traditional rulers and religious leaders in the southeast and not the least, Ohanaeze Ndigbo in guiding Mazi Nnamdi Kanu while building trust and diminishing any elements of mutual suspicion when released.

Hon. Aguocha encouraged President Buhari not to miss this golden opportunity despite any wrongly held perceptions and to take “this good action for which posterity would remember him in a positive light as he winds down his eight year tenure as the President of Nigeria.”

Famousreporters.com reports that Hon. Aguocha has for many years, been consistent in his pursuit for a peaceful resolution of the Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s impasse.

It would be recalled that the Ogwumabiri 1 of Umuahia, had two years ago, addressed the Nigerian Senate in an Executive Session through the Senate President, His Excellency, Ahmed Lawan, and other Senators of the 9th assembly. Highlighting issues of insecurity, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, political injustice, economic growth, and development of the South East and Nigeria as a whole.

In conclusion, the Honourable Member-Elect admonished President Buhari to be courageous in doing what is right and just, now, for the unity and progress of our dear country.
