IMO PDP: Ihedioha, Samdaddy swim in gutters over formula for sharing Atiku’s election funds

Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha, the immediate past Governor of Imo State and the national secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, Samuel Anyanwu ( Samdaddy) are currently wallowing in the muds over the formula for the disbursement of funds brought to the state for Atiku Abubakar’s presidential election

While Samdaddy had on Monday alleged that some chieftains of the party in the state diverted the funds for the All Progressives Congress, Ihedioha who indirectly spoke through his former aide, Chinemerem Madu described Samdaddy as “treacherous and lacks capacity for his office”.

Madu who accused Samdaddy of betraying PDP in the state, insisted that the campaign funds were adequately disbursed.

According to a statement as issued by Madu on Tuesday, Ihedioha won his polling unit in Aboh Mbaise Local Government Area for the PDP, whereas the party lost woefully at Samdaddy polling unit and ward in the Ikeduru LGA.

The statement read “I read with utter shock and disbelief the tissue of lies by the National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Senator Samuel Anyanwu in another calculated plot to misrepresent our party in Imo State.

“This is the height of treachery and pettiness I have ever seen from someone that should know better but has chosen the path of shame.

“As a National Officer of the PDP, I was among the delegation that received the logistics for the Atiku/Okowa Presidential election and indeed witnessed the entire process of counterpart collection from Senatorial and House of Representatives candidates, including disbursements. I dare say, that I have the capacity and locus to discuss this subject because I was involved.

“The Chairman of the Presidential Campaign Council, Imo State, His Excellency Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha CON, National Secretary, Senator Anyanwu, Senatorial and House of Representatives candidates including leaders of the party were among the team that received the funds for the election.

“Upon return to Owerri, we (all the persons mentioned above) immediately went into a meeting at the Owerri residence of the PCC Chairman with more stakeholders in attendance.

“Prior to this time, the party in the state had engaged in painstaking meetings with Chairmen of the LGAs and Campaign Councils, candidates, stakeholders for five consecutive days where budget, planning and template were further articulated and firmed up. Important to state that IHEDIOHA provided effective leadership

“This template was strictly adhered to and funds were disbursed to a team of minimum of five leaders in each LGA;

They are

Chairman of Campaign Council
LGA Party Chairmen
Candidates
Apex leader
Stakeholders.
“The above was the minimum requirement for accessing the funds which disbursement was done in the open to the very last dime of the funds.

“It is trite to note that the frustrations and embarrassment for Samdaddy and his cohorts stem from IHEDIOHA’s insistence that logistics must be released only in an enlarged Campaign Council Meeting. Evidence abound of what everybody said during the first meeting and this may be made public if we’re pushed further.

“Recall that during the flagoff of the PDP Presidential campaign in Imo State, Hon. Greg Egu, a self-acclaimed associate of our Presidential candidate, His Excellency, Atiku Abubakar GCON, and Samdaddy’s nominee for the position of the Director of the Presidential Campaign Management Organisation, Imo State, brazenly confiscated almost 50 percent of the money released for the rally, ostensibly on Samdaddy’s instruction and till date, Samdaddy has not felt compelled to talk about it.

“Has that matter been swept under the carpet? It is on record that Rt. Hon. IHEDIOHA calmed the situation and saved the party from an avoidable implosion. Even till now, Hon. Greg Egu is yet to account for funds.

“Senator Anyanwu and his cohorts should at this point, acknowledge the fact that their gimmicks do not gain any public interest. Their activities and sponsors are known to the public. And they will be put to shame soon. Those that wish our party doom shall see the glory of the party soon.

“In Imo State in the last election, It is on record that in line with his alliance with the Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma, Senator Anyanwu asked his associates and other people within his loop to work against our presidential candidate, His Excellency, Atiku Abubakar. But the directive was rebuffed and the people rather voted for the LP and humiliated him in his polling unit.

“Below is the booth result of Senator Samuel Anyanwu;

OBODO CENTRAL SCHOOL AMAIMO, IKEDURU LGA:

PRESIDENTIAL RESULT

LP 78

PDP 10

APC – 1-

AMAIMO WARD:

PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION

PDP: 99

APC : 100

LP : 1306

“The above results show that our party performed woefully in his polling unit and his Amaimo Ward, Ikeduru LGA just like the 2015 and 2019 elections. Yet he considers himself too smart to attempt to divert attention with spurious allegations.

“May I advise Senator Anyanwu at this time, to stop playing the ostrich. It is outdated because his activities are known to everybody and the people are wiser.

“There is no gainsaying that His Excellency Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha CON is highly respected and appreciated for his sterling leadership qualities that have seen the party formidable. This is despite of the intimidations, threat of disbandment of the Imo PDP state executives and/or suspending anyone who opposes him.

“For instance, a look at the polling unit and ward results of Rt. Hon. Ihedioha will bares it all.

“The results are clear. What did the National Secretary of my party bring to the table? I say it without fear of equivocation that Senator Anyanwu has no capacity and integrity required for the current office he is occupying at the Wadata Plaza and I challenge him to prove me wrong. Do ten (10) votes reflect the large family, kindred or community of the National Secretary or is he implying his community and family hate him so much to abandon and vote against him in a critical national election such as the 25th February one. There’s more to the 10 votes in National Secretary polling unit than meets the eye.

“His only scorecard is his alliance with Governor Uzodinma to destroy our party. There is nothing to show for the position he has held for over a year other than intimidating and distorting the peace of the Imo PDP through spurious litigations and subversion.

“Senator Anyanwu cannot pretend about how he became a Senator; the part I played, when we were commissioned by His Excellency Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha to deliver him and why he didn’t earn a return. At the same time he knows the circumstances that threw him up as National Secretary and how he has been using his assets and access to sabotage the party, especially in Imo state.

“Senator Anyanwu has not denied that he instructed his associates and “coordinators” to work against PDP candidates and this also reflected in their booth and Ward results. I stand to be challenged with contrary election results.

“I wish, also to put it to the National Secretary that he has deliberately, through various media and other actions engaged in anti party activities that have tended to discredit the integrity of the leadership of the party in our state. However, it is on record that the Imo PDP under Rt. Hon. Ihedioha’s leadership and Engr Charles Ugwu’s chairmanship have steadied the party in these trying times.

“Despite all the subversive activities of Samdaddy and his associates, PDP won two Senatorial elections of Okigwe and Owerri zones – going by BVAS results and votes cast in polling units and at least 7 House of Representatives elections before manipulation and declaration of doctored results. In Okigwe Senatorial zone for instance, the authentic scores are PDP: 33,000, LP: 19,000 and APC: 12,000 before INEC assisted APC with 44,000 votes from five Wards from only Okigwe LGA. Sad indeed.

“Fiinally, Imo people are tired of the Samdaddy circus and his clown-car associates and candidates that he regularly puts forward, cut from the same cloth as Hope Uzodinma.

“All hands are on deck to depolarize the Imo PDP where contradictory tendencies may exist, but the troublemaking activities of Senator Samdaddy Anyanwu are fighting these efforts.

“Our National Secretary, Senator should repent, retrace his steps and tender an unreserved apology to the PDP,” the statement read.
