Ikwuano Mayor, Nwaka extends charity work to Umuahia North, South …Inaugurates new NEF excos
The Mayor of Ikwuano Local Government Area of Abia State, Hon. (Evang.) Osinachi Nwaka,m and President of New Era Foundation (NEF) has inauguration the Executive body of the Umuahia North and South chapters of the Foundation.
In his bid to drive home the rescue mission of the Labour Party government of Dr. Alex Otti in Abia State, the Mayor of Ikwuano Local Government Area, Hon. Osinachi Nwaka has taken the bull by its horn thereby integrating the sister-constituencies into the New Era Foundation (NEF).
Mayor Nwaka who reiterated that he had vowed to incorporate more people from other Local Government Council into New Era which is his brain child, said the subsisting dearth was not limited to Ikwuano, as the Foundation does not harbour discrimination whatsoever.
This is in his bid to expand his charitable work thus reaching out to a greater number of indigents thereby making them feel glimmers of hope amidst the extant nationwide inflation.
According to Nwaka, this would help him cushion the drastic effect of the current hardship inflicted on the poor masses, hence the aim of NEF is to create job opportunities for the teeming unemployed youths, provide scholarships for indigent students, empower the youths and women especially the widows, militate against gender based violence and abuse, and other awful incidents rampaging the society.
Nwaka stated this during the Official inauguration of Umuahia North and South chapters of NEF, last Sunday, at Loyal Soldiers Church of Christ, Ndoro Oboro, in Ikwuano Local Government Area of Abia State, Nwaka disclosed that he had lived a life of sacrifice over the years, saying “my life is a life of sacrifice”.
He explained that “service to humanity is not money induced; it’s practical use”, he said, stressing that his burning desire to give back to the society gave rise to the birth of the nonprofit organisation.
“To the glory of God and in total submission to his divine grace, I’ve been doing these things for years, for churches. As an individual, I’ve been a partner and benefactor to widows and orphans, men of God, name them. So, I have been doing this, including building churches and houses for people as an individual. But, I considered it wise to galvanize my efforts by setting up this foundation, because I believe that with my position as a Mayor, I would be able to reach out to a larger number of people through my Foundation.”
Speaking further, he said: “And all I have done for humanity is a token of my appreciation to God for His faithfulness in my life. I know that I’m one of the most grateful persons on earth. Many a time, I look at myself and I ask: Osinachi, do you know that if man were God, by now, you would have been in the grave. But God has been preserving my life, protecting me and giving me the little with which I survive.
“So, I decided to recognise God’s faithfulness and give back to humanity and that was what brought about New Era Foundation.” He explained.
He explained that the organisation had evidently improved the lots of many sons and daughters of Ikwuano, arguing that charity begins at home, noting: “before you begin to do for the society, how many people have you empowered. I have from inception been living a life of charity. I’m not perfect and so I’m not devoid of mistakes.
Inaugurating the new members from the sister-constituencies, Nwaka charged them to endeavour to follow his footprints as a servant of humanity.
Meanwhile, famousreporters.com gathered from reliable sources from both Itunta-Ibere, the immediate community of Nwaka that the latter had over the years, been a channel blessing to hundreds of indigenes of Ikwuano both resident in the area and other states of the country.
Among the benevolent deeds of the renowned philanthropist are empowering many youths and widows with huge sums of money, sponsoring many youths abroad, granting scholarships to some indigent students, a laudable feat which he achieved behind closed doors.
It would be recalled also that the said Foundation was established a few months before his inauguration as the Council’s Mayor in the year 2023, with Honourable Charles Ugboaja as the deputy Mayor.
Corroborating, the Deputy Mayor, Hon. Charles Ugboaja commended the President of NEF and Mayor for his strong affinity for mankind and prayed for more of God’s blessings upon him.
Hon. Ugboaja urged the newly inaugurated Executives and members of the organisation to endeavour to be true followers of their master, reminding that there is more blessing in giving than there is in taking.
Moreso , he described Nwaka as a God-sent to both Ikwuano and humanity in general, whom he noted had over the years, given himself unreservedly to ameliorate the suffering of over hundreds of people, as he implored him not to relent in his works.
The highlight of the epoch making event was the official inauguration of the Umuahia North and South chapters by the National Coordinator of NEF, Pastor Mike Nwaka, who charged the former to be good representatives of the organisation.
Pastor Nwaka, in his remarks, reminded the people of the dignity of labour as well as the accompanying rewards for outstanding work, as he prayed for God’s blessings and protection upon the President and every member.
Attendance at the event were the Mayor of Umuahia South Local Government Area, Mayor Ejike, the Mayor of Ugwunagbo Local Government Area, the Chairman Labour Party, in the Council, Hon. Bright Chimezie and other stakeholders of the party.
