UK Court Jails Nigerian Teen Jackson Uwagboe for Life Over Robert Robinson Murder at Old Bailey

A UK court has sentenced Nigerian teenager Jackson Uwagboe to life imprisonment with a minimum of 21 years for the murder of Robert Robinson in London. The Old Bailey delivered the verdict following a dispute over a stolen bicycle.

A UK court has sentenced Nigerian teenager Jackson Uwagboe to life imprisonment for the murder of 21-year-old Robert Robinson in London.

The Metropolitan Police confirmed that Uwagboe, 19, was handed a life sentence at the Old Bailey after being found guilty of murder on February 10.

According to police, the fatal incident stemmed from a dispute over a stolen bicycle. The court ruled that Uwagboe must serve a minimum of 21 years before he can be considered for parole.

His co-defendant, Eromosele Omoluogbe, 24, had earlier been convicted of perverting the course of justice after assisting Uwagboe’s attempted escape to Heathrow Airport in a bid to flee to Nigeria.

In May last year, two other men — Ryan Wedderburn, 18, and Kirk Harris — were also convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment for their roles in Robinson’s murder at the Old Bailey.

Detective Inspector Neil Tovey, who led the investigation, described the verdict as justice for Robinson and his family, stating that the victim was attacked while unarmed and already wounded.

The case has drawn attention to youth violence in parts of London, with authorities reiterating their commitment to tackling knife crime and gang-related attacks.
