A cosmetic procedure that was supposed to enhance his appearance ended in tragedy. The revelation has raised fresh questions about the cosmetic procedure after Ubiribo died in Thailand, shortly after receiving his fifth penile filler treatment.

The 43-year-old died on March 6, 2026, after receiving the procedure a day earlier while on holiday in Bangkok with his wife.

According to Thailand’s Department of Health Service Support (DHSS), Ubiribo had been a regular patient at the clinic since 2024.

The clinic told investigators that he had undergone five penile enlargement procedures, with the first four carried out between 2024 and 2025.

The fifth procedure was performed on March 5, 2026, a day before his death.

What happened before his death?

The DHSS said an emergency medical team was contacted after a private hospital in Bangkok requested an ambulance for an unconscious patient.

Ubiribo’s wife reportedly told the medical team that he had received a filler injection earlier that day before going for a massage.

The hospital suspected a blood clot and prepared to conduct a CT angiography to examine his blood vessels.

However, Ubiribo lost consciousness and had no pulse before the scan could be completed.

Medical personnel immediately began cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), but he did not respond.

He was subsequently pronounced dead.

A later UK coroner’s inquest found that Ubiribo died from a pulmonary embolism linked to the penile filler injection. The inquest heard that hyaluronic acid used during the procedure had reached his lungs.

Clinic advised him to split final treatment

According to the Thai health authorities, the final procedure involved 40cc of filler being injected into Ubiribo’s penis.

The clinic told investigators that its doctor had recommended that the 40cc treatment be divided into two sessions.

However, Ubiribo reportedly preferred to receive the injection in a single session.

The clinic also said that he signed consent forms before each procedure and received post-treatment instructions.

It further stated that he had not reported any problems following his earlier treatments.

The information was disclosed after Thai authorities inspected the clinic on September 7, 2026.

Thai authorities launch investigation

Thailand’s Minister of Public Health, Pattana Promphat, ordered the DHSS and the country’s Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to investigate the clinic following Ubiribo’s death.

The inspection was conducted at the clinic on Rama 1 Road in Bangkok’s Pathum Wan district.

Authorities said they were examining the clinic’s operations and gathering evidence relating to the treatment.

DHSS Director-General Phuwadet Surakot said the investigation would continue before the professional-practice aspect of the case is referred to Thailand’s Medical Council.

“We will gather all facts and evidence to proceed according to our authority and submit the case to the Medical Council for a ruling on professional practice standards, in order to ensure fairness to all parties,” the DHSS said.

The investigation is expected to establish whether proper medical procedures and professional standards were followed during Ubiribo’s final treatment.

For now, the Thai authorities have not announced a final ruling on the clinic’s professional conduct.
