Globacom Donates ₦1 Billion to Lagos Security Trust Fund to Strengthen Public Safety
Telecommunications giant Globacom has donated ₦1 billion to the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF), reinforcing efforts to enhance security infrastructure across Nigeria’s commercial hub.

The donation marks one of the largest contributions from a telecom company to the security fund in recent years, highlighting Globacom’s commitment to national development and community safety.

The contribution followed Globacom’s participation in the LSSTF Private Sector Breakfast Meeting with Chief Executive Officers, hosted by Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on January 30, 2026. The meeting focused on strengthening partnerships between government and private organisations to improve security, innovation and economic growth in the state.

Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of LSSTF, Dr Ayo Ogunsan, commended Globacom for the gesture, describing it as a strong demonstration of corporate responsibility and a strategic investment in Lagos’ stability.

He explained that the security trust fund was created to support the government in bridging funding gaps in security operations, relying largely on voluntary contributions from private organisations and partners.

According to him, the ₦1 billion donation will boost the Fund’s 2026 security initiatives, including the acquisition of multipurpose security helicopters, drones, Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs), water cannons, advanced digital communication tools and smart CCTV surveillance systems. The equipment is expected to enhance intelligence gathering, rapid emergency response and proactive policing across the state.

A senior Globacom executive said the donation reflects the company’s belief that security is a shared responsibility between government and private stakeholders.

The official noted that safe environments encourage business growth, innovation and economic opportunities, adding that the company remains committed to supporting initiatives that protect lives and sustain economic development.

Globacom has maintained a strong record of social responsibility initiatives across Nigeria, including disaster relief support for flood victims, assistance to displaced communities, youth empowerment programmes, educational development projects and digital inclusion initiatives.

Dr Ogunsan also encouraged Lagos residents to support organisations contributing to the state’s safety and development, noting that corporate investments in security directly impact economic stability and protection of lives and property.

With the latest donation, the Lagos State Security Trust Fund is expected to strengthen its security operations, further positioning Lagos as a safer and more attractive destination for business and investment.

Globacom’s partnership with the LSSTF underscores the growing role of the private sector in supporting national security and fostering sustainable economic progress.
