FRSC Boss Mourns Fatal Crash Victims, Commiserates with Families, Kano Govt

The Corps Marshal, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Shehu Mohammed, has expressed profound sadness, and commiserated with the Kano State Government and the families of the travelers who lost their lives in a tragic lone road crash that might have occurred as a result of fatigue and excessive speed as a result of long night trip.

A statement by the Public Education Officer, ACM Olusegun Ogungbemide, and made available to the National Association of Online Security News Publishers (NAOSNP), noted that the devastating incident, which serves as a poignant reminder of the need for collective action against road crashes happened on 31 May, 2025 at Gadar Yankifi on the Kaduna-Kano expressway at exactly 1230HRS.

The crash involved a coaster bus with registration number KN 041 A17 belonging to Kano State Government had 24 people on board comprising of 23 Male adults and 1 female adult.

While 3 of the victims, 2 male adults and 1 female adult were rescued to the hospital with injuries, the remaining 21 victims all male adults were killed as at the time of the press release.

The FRSC Corps Marshal emphasised on the need for fleet operators to admonish their drivers against fatigue driving and violation of speed limits especially as they drive in the night when visibility is extremely poor.

While extending his heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims, wishing them solace and comfort during this difficult time, the Corps Marshal also commiserated with the Kano State Governor, His Excellency, Abbah Kabir Yusuf, acknowledging the State’s loss and expressing solidarity.

The Corps Marshal also urged all road users to prioritize safety, adhere to traffic regulations, and exercise caution while on the roads. He emphasized the importance of regular vehicle maintenance, avoiding speeding, and ensuring that drivers are well-rested.

FRSC remains committed to its mandate of promoting road safety and reducing crashes. The Corps will continue to work tirelessly to identify and address safety concerns on Nigerian roads, ensuring that lives are protected and tragedies like this are prevented.
