Former OGTV Broadcaster Kitan Oyesiku Found Dead in Ogun Home as Police Probe Suspected Foul Play

OGUN STATE – The Ogun State Police Command has launched an investigation into the death of former Ogun State Television (OGTV) broadcaster, Kitan Oyesiku, and her security guard, who were discovered dead at her residence in Iyana Agodo Village, Owode-Egba area of Ogun State.

The incident was confirmed on Sunday by the Police Public Relations Officer, Oluseyi Babaseyi, who disclosed that detectives had been deployed to unravel the circumstances surrounding the deaths.

According to the police, a resident raised an alarm after noticing suspicious movements around the property, prompting officers to visit the residence.

Preliminary investigations revealed signs of forced entry and disturbance within the compound.

Babaseyi explained that the security guard’s body was first discovered at his duty post, while Oyesiku’s body was later found inside her apartment.

He said the broadcaster’s vehicle was also missing from the premises, raising suspicions of possible foul play.

“Police detectives were immediately deployed to the scene, where preliminary assessment revealed signs of forced entry and disturbance.
“During a thorough search of the premises, the corpse of the security guard was discovered within the security post, while the body of Ms Oyesiku was later found inside her apartment.

“The victim’s vehicle was also observed missing from the premises,” Babaseyi stated.

The Police Commissioner in Ogun State, Bode Ojajuni, has ordered a full-scale investigation into the incident.

The command stated that intelligence-led operations and surveillance have been extended to strategic locations as detectives work to identify those responsible and recover the missing vehicle.

Meanwhile, the police expressed condolences to the families of the deceased, the management of OGTV, and members of the media community, describing the incident as a painful tragedy.

Residents have also been urged to remain calm and provide useful information that may assist ongoing investigations.

MEDIA COMMUNITY REMEMBERS ANOTHER TRAGIC LOSS

The death of the former OGTV broadcaster comes months after the tragic killing of ARISE News Channel presenter, Somtochukwu Christella Maduagwu, who was reportedly killed during an armed robbery incident at her residence in Abuja.

Following Somtochukwu’s death, her father, Engineer Ifeanyi Maduagwu, revealed that his daughter had chosen to remain in Nigeria despite plans to return abroad for further studies because of her passion to contribute positively to the country.

According to him, Somtochukwu wanted to gain professional experience in Nigeria and use her platform to influence positive change.
“She wanted to work for at least two years in Nigeria,” her father recalled, explaining that her decision was driven by her desire to make an impact.

The grieving father described his daughter as a passionate woman who cared deeply about helping others and hoped to one day serve Nigeria through public office.

He recalled their final moments together, including a memorable family trip to Tangier, Morocco, where they created cherished memories before her untimely death.

He also revealed that Somtochukwu’s dream was to become a senator and contribute to national development.
