Family Announces Funeral Rites for Late Abia Scholar, Renowned Librarian, Aged 77

“The family of the late Abia scholar and renowned librarian, who passed on at 77, has announced her funeral arrangements scheduled for November 25 and 26, 2025. She was a celebrated librarian, administrator, and former Vice President of the Nigerian Library Association (Abia Chapter).”

The family of a distinguished Abia-born scholar and veteran administrator has formally announced the funeral arrangements for their matriarch, Late Mrs. Stella Ahuewere Odinkemere (Nee Ochu), who passed on in 2025 at the age of 77.

According to a release signed by the family and issued to Famous Reporters by one of her sons, Hon Wisdom Lan Anyaragbu (DE GREAT), 2023 Abia State House of Assembly flag bearer of Action People’s Party (APP), the late senior citizen, born on September 29, 1948, “served meritoriously and retired from active duty in 2000” from the National Root Crops Research Institute (NRCRI), Umudike, Abia State.

Described as “an epitome of unwavering dedication, discipline, and devotion,” she was celebrated for her decades of distinguished service as an Ex-Chief Librarian Officer and former Vice President of the Nigerian Library Association (NLA), Abia State Chapter. She was widely regarded as “a librarian par excellence and an astute scholar who earned several distinguished awards throughout her career.”

FUNERAL ARRANGEMENTS RELEASED

The family announced the following schedule for her final rites:

Service of Songs: Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at 4:00 p.m.

Burial Service: Wednesday, November 26, 2025, at 9:00 a.m., to be conducted by the Eternal Sacred Order of the Cherubim & Seraphim, Umuahia Province.

Venue: Umuariaga Central Square (Mbarama-Ukwu), beside Mr. Lan Agwu’s compound, Umuariaga Oboro, Ikwuano LGA, Abia State.

The family expressed gratitude to friends, institutions, and religious bodies who have shown support since her transition.

A Son’s Emotional Tribute

In a deeply moving tribute titled “To The Queen (Crown of My Father),” her son,
Hon. Wisdom Chijindu Emmanuel Lan Anyaragbu (De Great), 2023 Abia State House of Assembly flag bearer of the Action People’s Party (APP), wrote:

“Dear Mally, you were indeed a gift from God to me—full of grace, strength, and love. Intellectually endowed, fragranced by the word of God, you prayed me through every season and taught me to walk with faith.”

He added that her words carried “the wisdom of a virtuous woman,” her smile “brought peace,” and her heart “reflected Christ’s love.”

“Though you rest now in the arms of your Maker, your light still shines in my life,” he wrote, expressing gratitude for her spiritual foundation and guidance.
Quoting Proverbs 22:6, he noted that she “ordered my steps and forged my path today—inside and out.”

Wisdom Anyaragbu concluded his tribute with:
“I love you, Mum. Keep resting in the arms of the Lord. Farewell Mamacito. Farewell Le Incumbent. Farewell beloved Mum.”

The family prays for the peaceful repose of her soul.

“May her soul rest in perfect peace.”
