BREAKING NEWS: Former Governor, Willie Obiano reportedly dies at London Hospital

“Reports suggest former Anambra State Governor Willie Obiano has died in London. No official confirmation yet. He governed from 2014-22 and faced EFCC fraud allegations.”

As of this filing, the sudden death of former Anambra State Governor Willie Obiano has not been officially confirmed. However, reports from news outlets including Sahara Reporters indicate that he died at a hospital in London.

It will be recalled that, Obiano served as Governor of Anambra State from 2014 to 2022, having succeeded Peter Obi, the Labour Party presidential candidate in 2023.

Prior to his death, he was reportedly under investigation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for alleged misappropriation of ₦4 billion.

Born on 8 August 1955, Obiano hailed from Aguleri in the Anambra East Local Government Area.
