The renowned business man who insisted that the items, namely; 20bags of rice, 4bags of beans, numerous tubers of yam, 36 cartons of Coco pops, (strictly mapped out for the children in the area), 200 cartons of noodles and 16 bags of salt procured by Ada Ibeku 1 for the community, in her bid to alleviate the extant hardship instilled by the COVID-19 pandemic, had no political undertone, noting that his children inherited the spirit of giving from him.

“Well, just like it is often said, ‘like father, like son’. I’m a giver and my children follow my footprints. And I’m very excited and happy because my daughter was able to do the palliative to support the government of Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu and also T. A Orji and Ikuku Abia.
“So, you can see that what happened there is not political, it’s just from the little stipends she gets abroad and I am happy about it.”
Bawas used the medium to thank the Abia State Governent led by Dr. Okezie Victor Ikpeazu for the various precautionary measures deployed in the fight against the traumas that accompany the pandemic, while calling for support from the federal government to enable the state alleviate the suffering brought about by the pandemic.
“I thank the state government for how they have been making sure that this virus doesn’t overpower us and making people smile through the provision of palliatives for the people. So, I’m calling on the federal government to support the Governent of Abia State because I know I’ve never seen any federal government presence regarding palliatives. We’re one Nigeria and as such expect something for Abia State Governent.”
Earlier in his brief sermon, V. Rev. Mba Eke, of Methodist Church, Umuahia urged the people to imbibe the attribute of giving as has been the tradition of the benefactor, Chief Mrs. Ogunmakin over the years.
“Give whenever you have the opportunity to give to the less priviledged. Don’t always be on the receiving end rather learn to give no matter how little you have. When you do this, you’re lending to God because God doesn’t joke with man, he’s serious with man. We should strive to help one another whether we receive gratitude in return or not. You should emulate the good attributes of Mrs Doris, because God expects us to be liberal.
