COLLABORATION: Key TO Effective Road Safety— Says Information Commissioner, Kanu

The Abia State Commissioner for Information, Prince Okey Kanu, has emphasized the importance of collaboration in achieving effective road safety management, stating that no agency can function optimally without strategic partnerships.

Prince Kanu made this statement while receiving the State Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Abia State Command, Corp Commandant Ngozi Eziama, who led a delegation on a courtesy visit to his office. The visit was aimed at strengthening cooperation between the FRSC and the Ministry of Information in the dissemination of road safety information to the public.

The Commissioner assured the FRSC delegation of the Ministry’s willingness to work out the necessary modalities for a strong partnership with the corps, stating the Governor Alex Otti’s unwavering commitment to road safety, particularly his emphasis on adherence to traffic regulations among political appointees and government officials.

While congratulating the FRSC on its forthcoming 37th anniversary, Prince Kanu urged the corps to uphold the integrity and image of the Service as they continue their mission of ensuring safer roads in Abia State.

Earlier in her speech, Corp Commandant Ngozi Ezeoma expressed appreciation to the Commissioner for the warm reception and highlighted the critical role of effective communication in promoting road safety awareness. She acknowledged Governor Alex Otti’s proactive leadership in enhancing traffic management and ensuring compliance with road safety regulations.

She further emphasized the need for stronger collaboration between the FRSC and the Ministry of Information particularly in public enlightenment campaigns that would improve road safety consciousness among citizens.

The meeting concluded on a positive note, with both parties pledging to work together to enhance road safety and ensure the free flow of critical information for the benefit of all road users in Abia State.
