BREAKING NEWS: Popular Nollywood Producer Kidnapped, Murdered in Enugu

Nollywood has been thrown into another state of devastation again, following the
ruthless murdering of one of her prominent film producers and directors.

The young producer and film director, Victor Tobechukwu Okoli, popularly known as Vic Matt, died a few days after he was abducted in Enugu, Enugu State’s capital.

The news of the producer’s brutal killing was Barely two days after the saddening death of 81-years-old Mr. Fabian Adibe, the famous Things Fall Apart Television series Actor.

The sad news was confirmed by a fellow filmmaker, Ben Cassie, on her Instagram page.

Taking to her page, Cassie the deceased as a dedicated filmmaker known for his integrity in an industry and often marked by rivalry and deceit.

She remembered him for his calm demeanour, intelligence, and commitment to producing quality films, as well as for offering encouragement and support to peers.

Viv Matt was also the manager and close friend of the ongoing Big Brother Naija Season 10 housemate, Bright.

Reportedly, Vic Matt was kidnapped last Friday, August 15, 2025, opposite a popular spot in Enugu, Ntachi Osa, Enugu, the Enugu State capital, and some days later, he aas confirmed dead after being shot.

Amidst agony, Cassie wailed that the death of Vic Matt came as a rude shock to the Nigerian Film Industry, causing them utmost pain and sorrow.

His passing has left many in the Nigerian film industry shocked and grieving.

Furthermore, she described Nollywood Industry as a home of “snakes and scorpion”, but, however, eulogised the deceased for distinguishing himself from among others, thus not involving in questionable acts.

Cassie wrote; “In an industry of snakes and scorpions.

“You stood different.

“All you wanted was to make good films.

“You were a cool, calm and intelligent one.

“To be kidnapped and killed is a very heart wrenching way to leave this earth.

“For all the times you made me laugh and looked out for me, thank you.

“NB: If you think I have something you desperately need, tell me directly or indirectly, I will stay far from it or hand it over to you.

“Chukwu ga ewetalu m ozo.

“Life is no competition.

“Being poisoned twice and unable to walk for a while is enough, you can all stop at that.

“I have no strength to fight anyone, I just want to shoot good films walahi.

“I’m tired.

“We can all live and prosper.

“Goodnight Vic.” She wrote.

Cassie’s emotional post has sparked an outpouring of grief from colleagues, fans, and industry stakeholders, who have taken to social media to celebrate Vic Matt’s contributions to Nollywood and his support for young talents.

Meanwhile, from the lines of her mournful post, Cassie indistinctly addressed her colleagues whom she tactily suggested hid in a cloak of envy, jealousy and wickedness. She urged them not to hesitate to ask for her whatsoever she possessed that entices them, noting that she would, without batting an eye, submit it to them, hence “I will stay far from it or hand it over to you.”

This is even as the spare of sudden untimely death of members of the industry, especially the younger ones has over the years, thrown many into a deep state of suspicion and wonderment.
