Breaking: Military Intercepts, Seizes Car Keys Belonging To Journalists In Anambra

A crew of Journalists from Odenigbo FM Obosi, Anambra state on Election Duty were intimidated and harassed by Army personnel on patrol during the the Presidential election on Saturday.

The team of Journalists led by Michael Odumefune a News Editor of Odenigbo Fm, said they double crossed and pulled over by two vans of the Army personnel who asked for some form of Identification which was provided at first asking.

However, the Commander of the patrol team insisted that they stepped down from the vehicle and asked for the key of their vehicle.

In response to his request, Michael Odumefune ordered the driver to hand over the key to the Commander,who sped off immediately with his patrol team leaving the Journalist bemused and stranded without any other means of transportation.

Being left with no other option they had to trek over 2kilometers in hope of locating the patrol team which was eventually sighted at Nkpor Junction.

On arrival Michael Odumefune approached the Officer in Charge and introduced himself and presented his INEC media accreditation tag and pleaded for the key to be released to him to enable them carry on with their election coverage duty.

The officer in charge finally released the key after about 15 minutes of pleading but warned Odumefune not to carry any other journalist in the vehicle otherwise his vehicle will be vandalized by his men. These journalists had their tags
