ALLEGED COGNITIVE HEART FAILURE: Wike diffuses situation

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has dismissed with a wave of the hand, the recent speculations about his health, which spread like wildfire across the social Media.

The former Governor of Rivers State, in an aura of confidence, reiterated that he remained strong and committed to his duties, as the Minister of FCT.

Wike expressed disappointment over what he described as the politicization of false news in Nigeria, during an exclusive interview on Channels Television.

The stiff-necked politician regretted that most individuals had, without verifiable proofs, resorted to spreading rumors of his death across the social media space.

Speaking amidst sarcasm, Wike said, “Very soon, I will write a letter: ‘We’re sorry; we loved him, but it’s God who gives and takes.”

He stressed that such unfounded reports only highlight how politics in Nigeria has been reduced to blackmail and cheap propaganda.

Wike pointed out that, unlike other countries where citizens respect their leaders despite political differences, Nigeria has become a place where anyone can post damaging claims about public officials without consequences. He added that the resilience of leaders lies in their ability to stay focused on their responsibilities rather than being distracted by falsehoods.

The minister assured residents of Abuja that his attention remains on delivering infrastructure projects and improving the capital city’s outlook. He maintained that despite attempts to derail his efforts, he would continue to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration in building a modern and competitive Abuja.

Meanwhile, it is evident that, Wike through the medium, did not only debunk the rumour but also, sent a stern warning to false news peddlers who tend to deploy misinformation as a political tool to disract their opponents.
