Abia 2023: Mascot Uzor Kalu Storms Ikwuano, Pledges To Consolidate On OUK Free Primary, Secondary Programme

The Governorship candidate of Action People’s Party, (APP), Abia State Chapter, Hon. Mascot Uzor Kalu has reassured the people of Ikwuano and Abians in general that his administration would consolidate on the free Primary and Secondary Education system of former Governor, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu.
The Governorship hopeful, during his verification visit to Ikwuano Local Government Area, yesterday,
promised Civil Servants and pensioners in the State of prompt payment of salaries and gratuity, respectively, while assuring them of restoring the compulsory free primary and secondary education.
He described education as high and priority to his administration, pointing out that part of the administration’s project in the first one year is to provide adequate security; adding, he said: “in each school, we’ll build a standard ICT centre to enable our children acquire basic technology knowledge. And part of our project is to ensure that all of our schools are adequately secured.”
“When my brother was the Governor, our children went to school without a cost and that we’re restoring back. So, we are consolidating on the previous administration of OUK. We shall restore the free primary and secondary education system in the State. We shall make sure that teachers’ and Civil servants’ salaries are paid on or before 25 of every month and change the narrative of our pensioners.”
Mascot Uzor Kalu, stated emphatically that his government would run the policy of of reward for every labourer, saying, “our policy is that he who works must eat. We shall come to repair your land, to empower you and make Abia better. That’s our motto.
Speaking amidst optimism on his envisaged victory, Kalu who bemoaned the poor state of road network in the area, pointed out that the essence of the verification tour was to ascertain the basic needs of the people, he would govern when he is elected in the office in the forthcoming general election.
Meanwhile, the former Chief of Staff stormed the area in company with the party’s State House of Assembly candidate for Ikwuano State Constituency, Hon.Wisdom Lan Anyaragbu, and other party Chieftains.
“We embarked on this verification tour in my quest to ascertain the condition of things in the various communities that shall be governed by our administration.
“Our vision is to build 5 standard health facilities in each LGA and develop a blueprint for the overall development of the State.
So, I’m appealing to you to support me and support your son. We’re coming to change the land, to do things aright. APP is a gathering of brethren. We don’t have a godfather
“We’ve seen the condition of your road. I didn’t want to wait to hear from anyone rather I wanted to see it myself and now I’ve seen it.
“And we’re all young qualified people, as you can see, the House of Assembly candidate from your Constituency, Hon. Wisdom Lan is also a very vibrant young man like me. I am the most qualified to govern the state, with my experience garnered as the chief of staff to former governor of Abia State, Chief T A Orji, from 2007 to 2009, the position is the engine room of any administration. Chief of staff is the clearing house of Government.
“I urge you to be fishers of men to enable them realize their goal. If you don’t work to win souls, we shan’t get there. You must be fishers of men. Do not shiver; that’s why you have a vibrant Governorship candidate.
“Mascot Uzor Kalu is the most qualified. If elected governor of Abia State, my administration will design a robust roadmap or blueprint for good governance, which will encompass all sectors of the economy, ranging from health to agriculture, from massive road construction and rehabilitation to rural and urban development, from education to economic recovery and accountability, which is a yardstick for good governance and development, needed to drive the state to economic prosperity”, he said.
Kalu who was the former Chief of Staff between the year 2007 to 2009 urged the people to unalloyedly support his aspiration and vote massively for APP in the forthcoming general election, stressing that he has the energy, capacity and proven integrity and competence needed to move the State forward.
Speaking earlier, at his palace, the traditional ruler, HRH, Eze Chinonyerem Uwaga Efuma 11 of Agbala-Uzor, in Ikwuano LGA of Abia State, showered his blessings upon the prospective Governor of Abia, as he urged the people not to betray the Kalu at the eleventh hour.
Addressing the mammoth crowd, the House of Assembly candidate, Anyaragbu who promised to remind the governorship hopeful of his promises to the people, reminded the latter of the protracted backwardness of their Council over the years.
He described Mascot Uzor Kalu as the right man for the job to relief Abia State of their prolonged penury, reiterating that, “we shall hear the voice of the entire four clans that make up Ikwuano.
“We have not come for campaign but just to present our incoming Governor to you and to prepare your minds for the job ahead.”
Anyaragbu thanked the Governorship candidate for honouring his invitation to the local government, saying, “as long as God keeps us alive, I’ll always remind the Governor of his promises. We shall fight this fight and win. Ikwuano must be well again. With Mascot, Ikwuano shall be a new London. Our Government shall incorporate our women without any form of discrimination, whatsoever.
The party’s Local Government Chairman, Hon. Kanu Amaechi who stated that the party was poised to change the narrative of the area, described APP as the proverbial tree that has come to fell the existing big tree in the State.
“We’re the small axe, and we must cut them down. As far as I am the LG Chairman, we shall succeed. Come 2023, Mascot Uzor Kalu will be at the Government House, he boasted.
In her reaction, the women leader, Pastor Mrs. Mercy Wilson Alamba, assured the APP gubernatorial candidate that the women will come out enmass to support his administration and called for women inclusiveness in his government once elected as governor of the State.
She further urged the gubernatorial flagbearer to remain focused and be mindful of his promises as the election is drawing closer.
