Abam PDP stakeholders move to reposition party in clan

The PDP Stakeholders of Abam clan, in Arochukwu LGA of Abia State have unanimously reaffirmed their unflinching support for the member, House of Representatives, Arochukwu/Ohafia federal constituency, Rt. Hon. Uko Nkole in his bid to reposition the party in the area.

The group during their enlarged meeting convened by the PDP Chairman, Arochukwu LGA, Hon. Sunday Okemini at the Ozu Abam country home of Rt. Hon. Nkole, on Sunday June 21, 2020 restated their promise to ensure the reawakening of the party in the area.

The leaders drawn from the four wards in Abam namely: Ohaeke, Ohafor ward 1, Ovukwu and Ohafor ward 11 during the enlarged meeting reaffirmed their commitments towards the repositioning of the party in the area, insisted that ‘all hands must be on deck’ to ensure PDP remained formidable for victory in subsequent elections.

In his remarks, the PDP Chairman, Arochukwu LGA, Hon. Sunday Okemini expressed delight over the massive turnout of the members of the party in the clan at the crucial meeting, while reiterating his preparedness to work with all the members of the party in order to restore its lost glory.

Okemini charged the stakeholders and other party faithfuls to support him in his frantic efforts to restructure the party “especially in Abam clan to ensure resounding victory for the party in 2023 general elections and beyond”, he added.

“I want to express my deep gratitude to the leader of the party in the State, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu and the National Working Committee of the party for ensuring a hitch free, transparent and peaceful Congresses that produced Abam sons and daughters as Executives of the party in the LGA including the emergence of the four ward Chairmen and other Executives in Abam clan”, he said.

The party LGA boss also thanked Rt. Hon Uko Nkole for his notable display of support and dexterity during the Congresses which, according to him, contributed to their emergence as Party leaders.

” Let me use this opportunity to inform the house that my administration has extended hand of fellowship to aggrieved members who lost during the elections, and also reached out to other stakeholders in the LGA who are willing to join hands to reengineer the party.

“The efforts have yielded positive results as Many of them have agreed to join us”, he said.

In their separate speeches, Abam PDP stakeholders who thanked Uko Nkole for his glaring leadership performance, urged the Chairman to be transparent in the discharge of his duties, saying, “work harmoniously with all your members and stakeholders, and help to correct the mistakes of the past leadership of the party in the LGA  who out of gross misconduct, greed and pride led the party to failure both in 2015 and 2019 general elections.

“Together with peace and unity, we will reinvigorate the PDP in Abam. We want to assure you, Mr. Chairman of our maximum support to ensure your optimal performance. We want to urge you to embrace all to move the party forward. Let’s remain resolute and be committed in our bid to restructure the PDP in Abam.”

In their reports, the ward Chairmen, Ovukwu, Ohafor ward I and II, Kalu Uka Ulu, Okoko Okoroafor, Onwubiko Oti respectively, as well as Thompson Nwojo who spoke on behalf of Ohaeke Abam ward disclosed that they had in their respective wards, commenced executive meetings on how to strengthen their wards thereby opening and equipping their various ward offices for greater efficiency.

They thanked their ward stakeholders for their financial supports which they admitted had enabled them to a greater extent achieve the feats.

Responding, Rt. Hon. Uko Nkole thanked the convener of the meeting, Hon. Okemini and the various party leaders for deeming it fit to converge and deliberate on measures to move the party forward.

He said, “since 2016, there has never been a time for this forum of Abam PDP Stakeholders meeting, I thank God for the vision of the LGA party Chairman who has broken this feats which is unprecedented by conveying this meeting. I must assure you of my maximum support and as we have started today, we will continue to meet periodically for it is time for us to unite, appreciate our own and keep supporting the political leaders in the State”.

Hon. Nkole encouraged the leaders of the party not to relent in the struggle but remain resolute, as he thanked party members for their massive supports during the last general elections that gave the Governor and himself a resounding victory.

” Abam remains a PDP community and PDP remains the largest political party in Africa and a viable political platform that has delivered dividends of democracy with verifiable projects, reforms and polices that has transformed the constituency, State and the Nation in general”.

Furthermore, the enthusiastic party leader amidst an aura of confidence, pointed out that Abam clan would regain her place of history “as the only clan in Arochukwu LGA that gave the Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu and the PDP in the State a landmark victory”, insisting that it is high time the party was repositioned in the area.

“Abam is the only clan in Arochukwu LGA that PDP won during the 2019 Gubernatorial and National Assembly elections. The time for bad leadership of the party in the LGA is gone and today, we have capable hands at the helm of affairs of the party. On my own, I will continue to support and synergize with the party executives and stakeholders to drive the party to a more enviable heights”.

Moreso, Rt. Hon. Nkole congratulated the Arochukwu LGA and Abam wards party executives on their successful emergence, and prayed God to grant them a successful tenure until May, 2024, while calling for the need to urgently embark on ward to ward sensitization, and charged them to discharge their duties without fear from any quarter.

In addition, Nkole stressed that his administration had embarked on meaningful projects and human capital development “in all the villages across Abam clan and other clans that make up the federal constituency. He promised to do more to actualize his vision one village one project before the expiration of his tenure.”

Highlights of the stakeholders meeting was the formation of ABAM PDP STAKEHOLDERS FORUM as opined by Rt. Hon. Uko Nkole which was unanimously conceded to by the forum.

“The Abam PDP stakeholders forum will help in strengthening and uniting the party in the clan and will have the following as members of ABAM PDP STAKEHOLDERS FORUM;

– All Current five (5) Principal Ward Executives namely: Chairman, Vice Chairman, Secretary, Youth Leader, Woman Leader
– All former Party Executives,
– Current and Past Elected/Appointed Councillors,
– All Current/Former Elected Chairman/Deputy,
– Serving and former State political appointees,
– All former Arochukwu LGA PDP Executives,
– Serving and Former Zonal and State PDP Executives,
– All Elected Political Office holders,
– Serving and former House of Assembly , House of Representatives members, Senate, Deputy Governor, Governor, President,
– Businessmen, current and former Civil Servants, Public Servants.” 

Meanwhile, the free and fair election, produced the following Executives of Abam PDP Stakeholders forum;

In his acceptance speech on behalf of the newly elected Executives of Abam PDP Stakeholders forum, the Chairman, Hon. Ejike Una promised to work assiduously to ensure the actualization of the aims and objectives of the Stakeholders forum.

The meeting featured a dinner section for the stakeholders organised by the Federal Lawmaker, as well the  distribution of assorted food items provided by the Governor Okezie Victor Ikpeazu as palliatives to mitigate the effects of the COVID-19 propelled by the lockdown.
