Delta Woman Raises Alarm Over Alleged Sexual Assaults, Blames Leaders for Inaction

A Delta State woman has voiced her frustration over alleged sexual assaults involving women, questioning their safety and accusing government authorities of failing to ensure justice.

Nigerian woman Ogeneru Kewe raises concerns over alleged sexual assaults in Ozoro, Ekpan and Effurun, questioning women’s safety and the response of Delta State authorities.

A Nigerian woman, Ogeneru Kewe, has expressed concern over alleged incidents of sexual assault in Delta State, questioning the response of government authorities and the safety of women across the state.

Kewe, in a video shared on TikTok, said she was disappointed by reports of sexual assault involving women in different parts of Delta State, alleging that those responsible had not been brought to justice.

She referenced an alleged incident in Ozoro a few months ago and another reported incident in the Ekpan and Effurun areas last week.

According to her, the latest incident was allegedly kept away from public attention because of the backlash that followed the earlier incident in Ozoro.

The TikTok user further claimed that some of the women affected by the alleged incidents had begun speaking publicly about their experiences but were yet to obtain justice.

Expressing concern about the safety of women travelling within the state, Kewe questioned whether women could move freely without the fear of sexual assault.

She also criticised the Delta State Government and local government authorities, accusing them of failing to take sufficient action to address the reported incidents and protect women.

Her frustration was evident as she declared that she was no longer proud to identify as an indigene of Delta State because of the disturbing allegations.

The allegations have renewed attention on concerns about women’s safety, accountability and access to justice. However, the claims surrounding the latest alleged incident have not been independently verified, and no official response was included in her account.
