Man Kills Crocodile With Spear After It Allegedly Kills Two Family Members in Four Days

Two young women from the same family reportedly died in crocodile attacks just four days apart. As grief gripped their community, four residents ventured onto the river at sunset in search of the suspected predator, leading to a dramatic encounter involving a spear.

A Zambian man, identified as Mola Simona, reportedly killed a suspected crocodile with a spear after two young women from the same family died in separate attacks on the Zambezi River within four days. However, the animal’s involvement in both deaths remains unconfirmed.

Four days after a crocodile allegedly killed two young women from the same family, a man has reportedly killed a suspected predator with a spear, bringing a dramatic turn to a tragedy that left a family devastated.

A man has reportedly killed a crocodile with a spear after two young women from the same family allegedly died in separate crocodile attacks at the same river within four days.

The victims, identified as 22-year-old Monde Pelekelo and 20-year-old Sikwezi Pelekelo, were reportedly attacked while fetching water from the Zambezi River in Sokoto Village, Sioma District.

According to reports, Monde was attacked and dragged into the river by a crocodile. Her body was recovered after a day-long search.

Four days later, Sikwezi reportedly suffered a similar fate at the same location.

The 20-year-old had gone to fetch water at about 3 p.m. on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, when a crocodile allegedly attacked her and dragged her beneath the water.

Her body remained missing for several hours before it was eventually found floating in the river.

The two deaths plunged the family into grief and heightened fears among residents, who suspected that the same crocodile might have been responsible for both attacks.

Man Leads Search for Suspected Crocodile

Following the deaths, four residents reportedly set out in a canoe to search for the crocodile they suspected was responsible for the attacks.

One of the men, identified as Mola Simona, said the group waited until sunset before venturing onto the river in search of the reptile.

According to him, they soon spotted a crocodile heading towards the same area where the attacks had occurred and decided to follow it.

Simona subsequently used a spear to stab the animal.

He said officials from the Department of National Parks and Wildlife had previously visited the area but were unable to locate the suspected crocodile.

Expressing satisfaction with the outcome of the search, Simona said the residents had killed the reptile without using a firearm.

Strange Markings on Crocodile Spark Speculation

After killing the animal, the residents reportedly brought it onto land, where onlookers noticed markings resembling the letters “MYJ” on its body.

The unusual markings sparked speculation among some residents, with some suggesting a supernatural explanation while others dismissed the claims as coincidental.

However, there is no conclusive evidence that the crocodile killed by the residents was responsible for the deaths of Monde and Sikwezi.

Although the two reported attacks occurred at the same location within four days, the suspected link between the deaths and the reptile killed by Simona remains unconfirmed.
