Mother Arrested After Allegedly Stabbing Five Children, Herself as Husband Takes Second Wife

A family dispute in Kampala has ended in tragedy, with two children dead and three others injured after they were allegedly stabbed at their home. Their mother, Dorothy Namayo, has been arrested as police investigate what happened.

Dorothy Namayo, a woman in Uganda, was arrested after her five children were reportedly stabbed at their family home in Bunga, Ggaba, Kampala. Two of the children died, while three others survived and were taken to hospital. Police are investigating the incident as murder, attempted murder and arson.

The woman identified as Dorothy Namayo has been arrested in connection with the incident, which occurred on August 20, 2026, at the family’s home in Bunga, Ggaba, in Kampala’s Makindye Division.

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the attack. Preliminary information suggests that a dispute between Namayo and her Malian husband, Ederisa Troy, may have preceded the incident.

Troy was reportedly involved in a second marriage, a development that allegedly caused repeated disputes between the couple.

However, police have not established the marital dispute as the final motive for the attack. The claims remain part of the ongoing investigation.

Two Children Die After Alleged Stabbing
One of the victims, 14-year-old Khadija Daizy, reportedly died after she sustained a stab wound to the neck.

Another child, seven-year-old Hawa Dalena, was taken to Nsambya Hospital for treatment. She later died from her injuries.

Three other children, aged 13, eight and five, survived the attack. They were taken to hospital and are receiving medical treatment.

Namayo was also found injured at the scene. She was subsequently taken to Mulago National Referral Hospital, where she remains under police guard.

Police are reportedly investigating the case as murder, attempted murder and arson.

Housemaid Describes Family Disputes
The family’s housemaid, Mariam Saana, reportedly told investigators that the couple had been experiencing domestic disputes for several months.

According to Saana, the problems allegedly became more frequent in May after Troy took another wife.

She said the couple often quarrelled whenever Troy returned home.

“Since then, they have been fighting and quarrelling every time he comes home. There has been no peace here,” Saana reportedly told police.

Saana also alleged that Troy wanted sons because Namayo had only daughters.

The children had reportedly contacted one of their father’s friends during an earlier argument between their parents. The man intervened, after which Troy eventually left the house.

Neighbours Raise Alarm After Children Cry for Help

Saana said she woke up at about 5am on the day of the incident after hearing a disturbance from the main house.

The house was located opposite the boys’ quarters where she stayed.

When she opened her door, she reportedly saw a vehicle on fire outside the house.

She also saw one of the children at a window calling for help. The child allegedly said that their mother had stabbed them.

Saana tried to enter the main house. However, she discovered that the locks had been changed.

The gate had also reportedly been secured with a new padlock.

She raised the alarm. Neighbours then rushed to the property.

The neighbours reportedly broke open the gate before forcing their way through the main entrance, which was also locked from inside.
One of the responders said the children’s rooms had also been locked.

“When we got inside, we found the children’s rooms were also locked and had to force them open.”

The children were reportedly taken in a police patrol vehicle to a clinic in Ggaba. They were later referred to Nsambya Hospital.

Neighbour Describes Horrific Scene

Godfrey Mukisa, one of the neighbours who responded to the alarm, said gaining access to the house was difficult.

According to him, the first child they found had suffered a severe neck injury and was already dead.

He also said another child had sustained serious abdominal injuries, while other victims had also been injured.

Another neighbour, Emmanuel Kazibwe, said the couple had reportedly quarrelled several times in the past.

According to Kazibwe, the couple would usually reconcile after their disagreements.
He said neighbours never expected the disputes to end in such a tragedy.

Police Begin Investigation

Kampala Metropolitan Police South, through the Kabalagala Police Division, is investigating the incident.

Investigators have reportedly taken statements from witnesses and recovered physical exhibits from the scene.

The investigation is expected to establish what happened immediately before the attack.
Police will also seek to determine the sequence of events and the circumstances surrounding the deaths and injuries.

Postmortem examinations are expected to provide further information on the precise causes of death of the two children.
For now, police have not released a final finding on the motive.

Claims that the incident was linked to the couple’s marital dispute remain allegations and are yet to be established by investigators.
