…Calls For Africa’s Inclusion In Technology Transfer

The Minister of State for Science, Technology and Innovation, Chief Henry Ikechukwu Ikoh, has urged the world to consider the inclusion of Nigeria and Africa in general, in all Technology Transfer “if the world truly is a global village”.

Chief Ikoh pointed out that Africa which is the cream of the world, with Nigeria as its Giant, hence ‘the Giant of Africa’ houses all the necessary natural resources needed to boost economy, and consequently ought to be placed at the helm of affairs of the world rather than being exploited.

Chief Ikoh who currently is representing Nigeria in GLOBAL CLEAN ENERGY ACTION FORUM, holding at Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States of America, with the theme: ‘A Critical Tool For Carbon Management: Removing Carbon dioxide (CO2) From The Air’, insisted that the spate of technological innovations and industrialization taking place in the Western world must, as a matter of necessity, be replicated in Nigeria and Africa in general.

Ikoh decried the current concentration of technological innovations and industrialization in only Asian, American and other European countries, maintained that the world should rather transfer their technology to Africa.

Hear him: “Nigeria must be included in all Technology Transfer if you truly believe that the world is a global village, the same technological innovations and industrialization that are taking place in the Western world must be replicated in Nigeria and Africa in general.

“Africa deserves transfer of of Technology and Nigeria should be the head rather than being exploited. In Africa, we have a lot of natural resources and this is what must be done so that the world would be a better place since it’s a global village.1

Chief Ikoh reiterated that transferring Technology to Nigeria and Africa in general would in no doubts, be a win-win situation if Africa is developed, noting that same would also help put an end to migration of Africans to the Western world.

The proactive Minister further explained that the transfer of Technology to Africa would help create employment opportunities for the teaming unemployed African youths, thus resulting in a drastic reduction of the subsisting crime and criminalities globally.

“The people agreed that it’s better to transfer technology since we are a global village. It’s going to be a win-win situation if Africa is developed and this will help put an end to migration of Africans to Western countries. With this also, our teaming African youths will be gainfully employed in Africa and the rate of crime will be reduced drastically globally”, he added.

Meanwhile, the objective of the Roundtable Forum, as contained in a Communique is: “To identify important ways in the next 12-24 months that multinational, multisectoral cooperation can help accelerate responsible near-term technological CDR deployments,
such as sharing knowledge and experience on certification mechanisms, politics and measures.”

Furthermore, the efforts is to enable: “a large-scale (1 million ton per year) facilities to generate learning-by-doing (to drive cost reductions of more mature CDR technology).

“Demonstration-scale (1,000 ton per year) facilities development in a range of countries/locations and using a variety of engineering pathways (to learn what works and what does not feel less mature technologies.

“Cross-border Carbondioxide(CO2) transport and regional storage providers.

“If I’m given opportunity, I’ll utilize it to the betterment of all and sundry”, Ikoh pledged.
