Greetings my good people of Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency!
First of all, I thank God for the opportunities given to me especially my reelection to the House of Representatives and I dedicate the victory to God Almighty and the good people of Arochukwu /Ohafia Federal Constituency for an unprecedented 2nd term in the House of Representatives, National Assembly.
Being your Representative, I am sure there are agitations in our minds over the years on the meaning and benefits of my representation especially in the last 4 years and this current Democratic dispensation for my self in particular and also my predecessors in the past years in the National Assembly.
They are a lot of expectations rest on the Representatives and yardstick to measure our performance is according to how many appropriations for public buildings, roads, bridges, empowerment, etc the Representatives have attracted especially with the concept of constituency or Zonal Intervention projects being found within the purview of the lawmakers.
Constituency or Zonal Intervention Projects in Nigeria refers to developmental projects sited in the constituencies of Honorable Members or Senators by various Ministries, Departments and Agencies of Government (MDAs) as appropriated in the budgets of the federation or states.
The aim is to balance the top bottom approach of budgeting by the Executive by having a bottom to top approach whereby the Representatives of the people have a say on the distribution of wealth and take care of little Needs of the grassroot based on real time basis of firsthand information. The framework is backed by our constitution.
The processing of constituency projects especially at the Federal level does not involve cash payments or any other form of payment to a legislator. It is not included in allowances payable to any legislator. The contracts for constituency projects are not awarded by any legislator or to any legislator.
The duties of the legislator is simply to identify the location and the type of project to be sited. Once this is done, it is included in the National Budget of the relevant MDAs by the National Assembly. The processing and award of contract for execution of the project is purely the responsibility of the Executive branch.
Having said this, I want quickly highlight what I have been able to attract for the entire Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal constituency with 2016-2020 Appropriation Act by the Federal government.
(A) WATER:
* Attracted the Construction of Ndi Okereke Abam Water Scheme- Completed
* Attracted the ongoing construction of Abam Surface Water Scheme and Treatment Plant
* Attracted the Rehabilitation and ongoing reticulation of Abiriba water scheme which has been moribund for over 20 years
* Construction of a borehole in Asaga , Arochukwu- completed
* Amuvi Arochukwu water scheme.
* Attracted the construction of Ibina Ohafia Water Scheme- completed.
* Water reticulation at Eziukwu and Mgbaga from Ekeluogo Water Scheme, Ebem Ohafia
*Rehabilitation of Ishi Mmiri Elu, Ohafia and the inclusion of reticulation in 2018 budget.
* Construction of a borehole water at Amuke Ohafia- Completed
* Attracted the Federal Government attention to fund the Abandoned Asaga water scheme.
* Attracted the construction of Borehole at Umuzomgbo, Ihechiowa- completed.
* Rehabilitation of Achara Ihechiowa Community Water Scheme.
* Attracted the construction of a motorised borehole at Umuchiakuma, Ihechiowa
(B) BRIDGES:
* Rehabilitation of Anyim bridge that links Abia to Akwaibom State in Atani Abam completed since 2016
* Rehabilitation of Afagala bridge , Idima Abam completed since 2016
* Rehabilitation of Ndi Ebe Abam bailey bridge- 95% completion.
* Palliative repairs of Mmuri bridge , Ebem Ohafia and its approaches for ease of movement in all seasons
* Attracted the construction of a brand new Arochukwu/Ohafia bridge (Omenuko Bridge) , Igwu river, Ozu Abam
(C) ELECTRICITY:
* Extension of Electricity at Ahuma Abam; a community in Abam that has never had Electricity
*Power Enhancement for Ndi Ememe, Odonyi College road, Abam.
*Provision and installation of Transformers for Abam community,
* Have taken up and addressing the issue of overbilling of members of his constituency by EEDC and equally restored Abam electricity.
* Provision of 33KVA Transformer for Atan Abam who has been without electricity for over 9 years.
* Provision and installation of Transformers for the following;
* Hospital road, Elu
* Isiama Layout, Amaekpu,
* Akanu Ohafia,
* Timber shade, Ebem.
* Enhancement of Electricity with A sub-station within the premises of Hope Waddel University and her precinct in Okagwe Ohafia.
*Restoration of light in Ndi Ibe and Oboro Ohafia.
* Installation of solar street lights in Okagwe , Oboro and Nkwebi Ohafia
* Restoration of Mgbaga, Ebem Ohafia Electricity.
* Provision of low tension cables to support rural electrification in Ndi Okpo Ihechiowa.
